I haven't messed with a 4K display myself however so I don't know how well that works in practice, but it should work in theory and Digital Foundry have shown that kind of thing before. Many games now come with resolution scale sliders too.

Most other games look like arse like that. 1440 upscale to 4k looks good though.GurtTractor wrote:Aye but you can run at a lower internal resolution and scale up, then use things like the sharpening filter to get a lot of percieved detail back. You want at least a Ryzen 6 core, probably a 2070 Super or 5700XT though you can still have a good experience with a lower-mid range card and upgrade to the higher end next year..
I would also strongly recommend getting at least a 512GB NVME SSD such as the 970 Evo for your boot drive and for demanding programs and games. There are a few instances currently where super fast storage will make a noticeable difference to the experience (Star Citizen apparently, and Kingdom Come in my experience), and this will likely become a trend. The next consoles will have super speedy storage so it makes sense to try and match that.
