Ultimate flexibility but it can be a faff
I had one game (gunfire reborn) which got updated and didn’t work for 6 months ish then got sorted and I have no idea why.
Other problem is if you are travelling any length of time you need a battery pack so it’s quite a lot to be carrying about.
BG3 is surprisingly good on it though, even playable plugged into the tv
(Is there a stream deck thread? Are they good? Is the fancy one worth it? How long does the battery last? Can I use it in the bath?)
I use it in the bath. They are good and the fancy one is not really worth it imo. If it had a better battery that'd be something but it's memory and screen hardiness I think.
City Skylines 2 not reviewing particularly well, unfortunately. Seems a bit unfinished, ugly, buggy, unintuitive. Hopefully they can make it better but I think I'll give it a miss for the moment, even though it's on Game Pass.
Yeah, I've been following it fairly closely and it looks like it's pretty poorly optimised too. Quite poor performance even on hefty PCs. A shame because it does look like they incorporated lots of the really good QoL mods that the community developed for CS1.
I'm still hopeful that they will be able to get it into decent shape in the next few months, and the mod scene will deliver again, but probably a safe bet to wait.
I'll definitely give it a go on game pass, but I was intending to buy it on steam (the workshop made CS1). I'll only buy it now if the performance issues get resolved.
Enshrouded, described as a cross between Dark Souls and Valheim, coming in January. The building aspect looks pretty good, everything from holes in the ground to castles.
As people upgrade their PC's I recommend modding Skyrim, which used to be a pain in the arse. Vortex now takes care of most of the issues, you just need to ensure you're downloading a mod for your edition of Steam Skyrim which you'll probably find has been auto-upgraded to Special Edition.
Many small mods have been collated into one click installs through Vortex. Want unique doors for all the buildings? No problem, either click the vortex button if it has one or manual download and select mod manager, which does the same thing, and all that work hundreds of people have put in over the years is there for you.
In particular the 4K texture packs are usually just a couple of clicks away and they gather all the work individuals have been doing on all the objects. Once it's looking pretty and with new weather and lighting effects you can download entire new campaigns and new towns. There's really nothing like it in detail or scope.
It can still go wrong but Vortex does it's best to sort it out and tell you what mods conflict if you're just picking and choosing at random. Better still get a library of mods that someone has put together that ensures they all play nicely. Again, usually just a click or two away through Vortex. just remember to run the game through Vortex not Steam.
Thought I might download Flight Simulator and have a bash in VR. 152gb and it's downloading at about 5mb a second, and this over a wired 1gb connection. FML.
