Not sure how I feel about this game. Music is great, but not a lover of the pixel style visuals - makes it very hard to discern what can be interacted with and what is just set dressing.
Combat is okay, if a little messy. My biggest problem is keeping track of myself when there are lots of enemies on screen, it quickly turns into a massive clusterfuck.
Not a fan of the medkit health system either, and some sections have proven infuriating, especially the dodge the moving blocks bits. Feels very dated and uninspired in that respect.
I like the little secrets tucked away all about the place, but back tracking to find more is very off putting due to the travesty that is the world map. Fucking dreadful. I'm unable to decipher any of it in relation to where I'm actually at. It may as well not exist.
It's enjoyable enough to keep playing but it's very frustrating so only short bursts for me.
Nearly uninstalled this earlier, it's fucking infuriating. Can someone that has beaten the first boss tell me if you upgraded anything first? I'm failing to see how it's possible with so little health?
one. Did it without any upgrades in the end. It's so frustrating but very satisfying. It's not perfect - there's some odd design decisions and I'm not keen on the look of the game, I prefer rounded edges.
Ah yes he was one of the hardest ones for me. The one where the floor is actually dangerous for most of it. I did it with the multi dash in the end. Buy that first. There are some puzzles that need it.
West boss was also quite tricky, the other ones not so bad.
Got the dash. There's a room in the shop that seems to be a practice room with a score board. Can you build the dash up? I've managed to get it to 2 but not 3. I see in the move description vid he's doing a triangle thing but I've never managed to get the full three dashes. Am i doing something wrong or barking up the wrong tree?
Yes it's a rythmn. I've managed to string 150 together and i have no rhythm.
If you string 100 together in that room you get a piece (or whole chunk - can't remember) of upgrade chunk.
The triangle in the upgrade vid is just a example. You can obviously do it in any direction for just about any amount of time.
For what its worth - the upgrades i found useful in order of usefulness

Gun upgrade - this one was iffy because in some situations it was nice to have a couple of extra bullets but buying it for every gun is a complete waste IMO
Erm it's just a rhythm. It's very tempting to press the dash button faster and faster (especially during a boss battle) but it's actually quite a slow tempo.
Visually you press the dash button just a fraction before the current dash ends.
Hold the stick in the direction you want to go and find the rhythmn. It might be better to try it outside first, like the main square, somewhere you can dash in open space before going back in to the dojo.
Try pressing the button quickly and then slow it down until you find the sweet spot?
