New Edition of 40k, supporting Open, Narrative and Matched Play. Streamlined rules, all your codexes will be unsupported by the new rule set. No End of Days scenario in the story, but still some big changes. New starter set coming as well. Happy times.

Played the Dark Souls boardgame. What a stinking pile of tedious shite. I was bored of it about 10 minutes into the game. Grinding with boring combat on a terrible terrain system.
Minis are nice though.

Played fugitive yesterday with my partner. It's a quick little two player game where one player has to secretly place cards in ascending order while the other player needs to guess all of the cards put down. There's enough information available that the both people feel under pressure and then relief/doom afterwards.

Dark souls boardgame is bloody marmite. Seeing stuff about Oresome hating on it.
Played it last night and had some fun with it. It will need house ruled I reckon to make it work.
But yeah. It would be great if there weren't all these other boardgames I've played.

I read a lot about the DkS board game suffering because the whole point of DkS is that your skill mitigates damage. In a boardgame that's hard to translate and from what I have seen, you can take damage by no fault of your own, just bad rolls/pulls etc
Certainly looks nice, but I am glad I never feel the need to kickstarter these things. -
Also played mask of Moai recently. It's a fun game where players take turns donning phone vr goggles and get different perspectives of a half sunken temple. Then the team has to construct the temple based on the observations.
It's pretty fun but also very easy, so the game comes with some hinderance challenges to spice things up.

I can understand why people like it, miniature collecting and painting is a really nice hobby in and of itself, and for the company it's also a really good way of securing money because miniature casting moulds are in the range of something like... £35k, with rented equipment. It's why there's often such a disparity in GW pricing, as it has to take into account the production cost and the likelihood that people are going to buy that model, which can lead to models like the Genestealer Broodlord being £25, which is only £8 shy of a massive Winged Hive Tyrant.

I went to the seminar by Forge World guys at oneGames DayWarhammer Fest a few years ago, and this is one reason why FW use resin rather than plastic. You can make a profit off a print run of a few hundred/low thousands with resin, but plastic only becomes cheaper when you reach high thousands/tens of thousands of copies.For those with an open mind, wonders always await! - Kilton (monster enthusiast) -
Yep, resin is great for low print runs and for smaller companies. Still fairly exoensive, bit not insanely so, plus you can use old metal moulds with resin, but not plastic as far as I know.

It's like buying a sharing bag of doritos and then hoarding the packages. -
Similarly there are countless awful people with gorgeous unpainted minis out there.

Playing alot of 2 player stuff ATM so picked up Raptor today. Love me some asymmetric shizzle and watched a few vids and it looks up my alley.
One person plays the Raptors trying to either get 3 of her babies off the board, or eating all the scientists. The other plays the scientists trying to either subdue the Raptor or capture 3 babies.

This sounds like lots of fun. Think it might be a fun little something for the wife and I to play of an eveningNot everything is The Best or Shit. Theres many levels between that, lets just enjoy stuff.
