Another Camelot RPG sports thing. They really put some effort into these on GBA. Took me around 6.5hrs to finish, had to be on my toes by the end because it got pretty tricky by the time you're playing against the Mushroom Kingdom mob. Virtua Tennis aside, I've never really enjoyed a tennis game in single player, but this was great fun, the minigames especially, and oddly addictive. I'll give it an [8], whereas I gave Golf a [9] earlier in the year, but that's just my taste in sports gaming - this is probably a slightly better game overall.
This one tipped it over the total character limit for my reviews, so I'll have to update here from now on. I'll probably only add Halo Wars 2 by the end of the year, with an outside chance of Steamworld Dig 2 or Mighty Gunvolt.
Ah, so this is all over in around 35 minutes. And I only died four times. I thought it was a Shovel Knight esque fleshed out thing, albeit a companion piece to the Azure Striker games (Megaman 2 to Megaman X2, maybe). Good while it lasted, so maybe a [7] at the sale price of £1.79 and a [5] at £4 or whatever it usually is. A [6], then. Not a patch on something like Ninja Senki DX, but pretty good fun.
Momentous walking sim. Genre naysayers: Find hat. Go north. Eat hat. It tells a tale of tales in a way that's genuinely enhanced by interactivity. Reading too much before playing might ruin things a little; like all these titles it's best to go in cold. The arcade brigade like Davy/retroking might hate it - it's a twitcher's nightmare - but for anyone who's ever hoped for better storytelling in videogames this is the genre to watch and the game to beat. 2-3hrs of excellence, terrific effort. [8]
Not really. I've played the others to the point of having had enough, and something like PES can't really be completed anyway. They still add up to a decent number of hours spent.
Nearly a good game, but when there are so many decent indie titles around it's only fair to give this a 'merely solid' [6]. It's a slow burn Metroidvania, possibly a bit like a more sedate Insanely Twisted Shadow Planet (only saw videos of that one). Some sections are excellent, but some are extremely dull, and there are a couple of long winded escort missions that let the side down. Looks lovely, plays very well and I suppose it gets some points for not explaining anything in the era of hand holding, but by the end I was pretty irritated trying to work out where the hell to go. Quite tricky in places too as you have to be very precise with the aiming at times. I wouldn't have stuck with this were it not for the thread, but it's decent enough.
I thought I had to zoom out the top square until a stone drops, then zoom in so it breaks the bell jar and releases the moth, but that doesn’t seem to work.
you can make the rock fall past a building with same colour drapes, think you have to zoom out and around on one of the panels. While it is falling and bouncing through that panel, you have to quickly line up the bottom with the panel with the butterfly. Erm, hope that made sense? One of the harder ones, had me stumped for a bit.
I was stumped on the last proper puzzle for a bit too. Another one where you have to think differently about how to stack the panels together.
77. Aliene Storm - MAME
Did this this morning with an unwilling helper. Half decent good scrolling beat em up from the still-a-bit-shit era. Good music though [5].
Failed with Halo Wars 2. Still got three missions to go. Nevermind.
Can't wait to fuck this shit off and start reading on the train again in 2018. Great thread btw, I never thought it'd get me but I went DEEP.
Still haven’t done the raid, but have done other main quests and some PvP, spent enough time to count this now. Got the final quest done this morning, would be an idiot if I were to count it for 2018.
Shame I couldn’t get to half way. There are a couple I could count that I didn’t complete but felt that I hadn’t spent long enough with them to count them.
52 for me in 2018. I've got a huge pile of shame and loads of old 16 bit ones I want to knock off, and hopefully some free time now I've got my working life sorted a bit. Someone start the thread.
So that’s it now! New thread will commence soon, I’ll look at who completed it this year and you’ll be in the opening post of the new thread each year to celebrate your completion of the challenge! I’ll also send out a little prize for each that completed it!!
