Do Boardgames Dream of Miniature Porn?
  • Think you’re right Pea :-)

  • So I bought Blackstone Fortress, I’m looking at building the mini’s soon.

Does everyone glue them or just click the pieces together? I’ve built my Blood Bowl teams and glued them but it was tricky as they didn’t always pop in place straight away but as I’d glued them I struggled to put them together properly. I’ve seen a few painting videos on YouTube and a fair few don’t glue them. Does everyone glue them?

  • Depends. Some of them will benefit from leaving components unglued for painting, like UR-25 and Pious Vhorne, others will be a tight fit unless you clip the peg and glue it together. Play it by ear.

Don't really buy GW sorry so no idea.

Think I glued my Shadespire stuff, but can't remember.
  • It’s always dependent on the model for me. Pushfit is generally pretty good for having dynamic but open poses, some of the BAF stuff is pretty fussy though.

Spare a thought for poor Franny gluing together Vikings that are not push fit.
  • As someone that has built a fair number of the old modular GW kits like Fire Warriors ofer the past few months, I have no sympathy

I've got a 15mm scale mech to build that's in about 30 pieces. No instructions. I nearly wept when I opened the bag.
  • I’ve bought Adeptus Titanicus, which is 8mm scale. It has instructions though!
  • Cheers bouys. I’m gonna try push fit first and maybe paint at some stage soonish but I don’t have an artistic bone in my body.

  • Straight away. What does the red exclamation mean on the chaos beast men ? I’m guessing make sure you use the right stance pieces ?

No, it's them expressing their surprise that you've bought the game having barely touched Gloomhaven.
  • Have you stopped buying games as well?

The instructions should have a legend for the keys!

Just says read instructions, I think it’s saying make sure you use the correct base as they go in a little hole as opposed to the slot

Neither do alot of miniatures games. Otherwise nobody would buy it.
  • But it’s not a miniatures game, it’s a board game with miniatures

  • GW rarely publish their rules as PDF. Only AoS is free.

I’ve read that, I had to take photos on my phone.

  • I was lucky enough to get to play Adeptus Titanicus today, at Warhammer World, thanks to my pal who Owns Too Much Warhammer.

It's easily the best GW game by a country mile. The fantasy of multi-stories high titans fucking each other up with colossal weapons is enacted brilliantly. It feels almost simulation level, without any of the fussiness of an actual sim. Alternating activations and a clever order system mean you never really feel like you can't do something, and not being able to measure before firing and being restricted by the a forward arc when moving and when firing means you really have to eyeball and consider quite a lot, so it feels very tactical.

Also it's really hard to hate a game where you can end up with two titans charging each other as one gets stabbed in the back by a knight lancer, causing your titan to do a 180, fire all of its guns at the knight stumble backwards into the other titan causing them both to crash to the ground and explode.
  • Sounds awesome!

Cant wait to see the other races titans get a resculpt hopefully, I hope they have a go at redoing the Imperator as well while they're at it.

  • I was at Warhammer World a couple of weeks back.
    It was fun.

  • All the rusty marks and rain drips etc... On this bonnet area are just done with bog standard oils dabbed on, then refine and drag the excess away with a clean brush with various amounts of turps on it.
No fancy airbrush techniques or anything needed.

    Very, very cool.

What game is it for though?
  • Yeah, what you done it for panto!?

Seriously, scratch built stuff fascinates me - and that looks real good. Love the weathering in particular.

Gonna chuck up some stuff I've been working on whilst at my Grandparents. Limited by the paints with me, and the time available too.

Largely finished with Typhus, just some detailing to do
    ndCd9xw.jpg

Same with the Plagueburst Crawler - first tank i've done since coming back to 40k too. Usually £40 but I bought the two issues of Conquest it was in to bring it to £15!

A lad with a flag to round my Death Guard Infantry up to 21 ( another three I painted not pictured, but y'know... they all look the same these lads)

Some Tyranids I did with contrast. Still experimenting with the application, but I think for line troops it's spot on, will probably take the idea further with details later this week.

Also here's a bunch of images of us playing at WHW yesterday. Legio Mortis Titans and Gryphonne IV AdMec by my pal Pete.

I won this game by 41 victory points! - beginners luck

  • I do love this hobby. I get a lot of pleasure out of it, and I fucking love the people I get to play with, I just wish it wasn't so tough to organise a game or get to Nottingham.
