I’m sure video presentations very much existed before Nintendo directs become a thing but they are the obvious beacon and had become applauded throughout the industry for the way they were produced. Then Sony suddenly started using the same mechanism to talk directly to their customers.
I mean, it was a minor little joke at the start that has only hung around and snowballed because of the angry reaction to it. I think.
