Only partway through but have long been a fan of Kasey, despite his murky business past, hes a cracking songwriter, in fact his last song of this session is an alltimer for me (skip to 13:30 for that according to notes). But anyway a little session from AmericanaFest last year

OOh, I like Margo, will keep my eyes on that. Jason Hawk Harris kept popping up again this morning while I was pottering, the young Elvis lookalike, still very very good. Will be listening to Caleb Caudles new album this afternoon, will appraise later, but he just cracked the country top 30, so well done

Will get on the JHH in a bit, liked what I've heard.
Not at work until Monday after next now, not WFH either (not that I can anyway), booked a holiday so daughter doesn't have to go to school while my wife is working. Home learning and videogames, with Streets of Rage 4 due next Friday. Already home and blaring some CCR; good times in bad times.
And as it happens … McBryde played Outlaw Blood at her Glasgow gig last year. Didn’t mention it was a collaboration, but did introduce it by saying that her label had forbidden her from playing it live until they decided what to do with it. I took that to mean they might have been selling the song to another artist, but I guess not!
I've got a Carsie Blanton megapost coming, been battering her albums in the last couple of weeks. Vid there is stronk Dylan nod but the tune leans heeeeavily and respectfully on its In Spite of Ourselves John Prine influence. Honestly, no-one can write like Prine because it either sounds like they're dumbing down or overreaching (without ever hitting the sweet spot) but Buck Up is just about the most sucessfully Priney thing I've ever heard by another artist. I really like her, and I'd never even heard of her before she posted that ultra fine Prime tribute earlier this month.
Neat, didn't realise she'd addressed the homage directly. There's a live version where she pretty much hums it midway. Buck Up is a fine album but Idiot Heart is the one I keep leaning to, teriffic songwriting and even better delivery. She's legit.
Risking a possible flambé, this popped into my YouTube but it's class cover of an ONJ song, lovingly mixed and performed by this Australian ensemble. Best enjoyed with headphones.

Bought tix for a virtual gig tonight. Ten bucks, and the timezones align so that we can watch Larkin Poe live at 9pm tonight. Think I’ll get some beers in and watch on the big telly.
Ten bucks per gig, or 50 bucks for access to all six. You can package it up with a CD or vinyl preorder too. They even have a online form for making requests prior to each gig. Not a bad idea, this.
Not sure I'm down with charging for lockdown gigs. I dunno, I need to think it through, people need to make a living I guess, but having thoroughly enjoyed Orville's livestream for free it feels kinda off to pay for something people are doing remotely. Maybe they're really upping the production values.
All bets are off I guess. I prefer the tip jar approach but if, say, Ray Wylie Hubbard played an intimate online show with patter and requests I'd pay all the monies.
