He could've just said they came from another planet but seems keen to convince people with his bullshit pseudoscience that he knows stuff. I wouldn't trust him with my lunch. - SG
So, been back working on the first high res area. Getting super detailed. It's fun.
Here's the trainstation. This pic when I'd placed it as is, and laid a few commercial buildings opposite.
These buildings are awesome. Have done a little more detail in front now.
A little market behind those shops heading from station to res. Still not finished.
Will show a top down of whole area at bottom, but here's pics of detailing that's done, or almost done. Station has access on both sides and a bunch of props.
The only period buildings that come from devs are some of the Unique buildings (famous ones etc)
Actually, when I look, I'm using nearly all user stuff. I've changed all the vehicles. At least half the trees are user made and all the non asphalt roads are user made too.
The console version is very well done, it's what got me hooked, and Tbh, for map navigation and camera the controller is still better, but there is a tipping point where you can't go back.
Base game is still an awesome time sink. Just getting a few cities humming and working is worth it.
Move it and traffic manager mods though, I couldn't do without them.
All of this comes at a load time cost. Currently at 7 minutes from main menu to in game.
Well, crazy times in Robertaville (All cities named after whatever music was playing at the time).
Had some buildings not staying in place, and I've only just realised why, Can't mix res (high and low) if you stipulate it in a district. It's been undoing some cool buildings. Thank god I've been dumping pics in here, had to go back and reference. Easy fix though.
More annoying is that some props and trees keep despawning on load. That is a mystery.
Also started to work out how to use Procedural objects mod. It's mental and may push loading past 10 minutes, and map also drop my framerate it unplayable, but man, I had to be able to resize some graffiti.
Here's the overview of the newer low res I've put otherside of the station. Have added a bunch of stuff in here now. Very cool area. Dutch theme mainly for the res, with sprinklings from all over for the shops and I had to add an Ikea.
Sports precinct next to the highschool.
No parking or cars in the dutch area, so shops and parking on a big road at the back with an Ikea.
Detailing on high res. Love these light trees.
Was all up in a wiki working out how to use procedural objects to get that graf to that size.
I tried the windows 10 gamepass version and it felt like the xbox version. I'm sure it could be modded but nothing like as easily on steam. That's something Microsoft need to fix if they want to win over the pc crowd.
Ah Ive put in a good few hours on PS4 (goodbye my friend). Was hoping to get some really good stuff going like in some of youze guys screen shots. ITs a tenner on steam right now, tempting.
So after a bit of a hiatus I have returned to skylines and am loving it. I went a bit overboard with mods and broke the game so have had to scale back a bit and am just working with a few mods and custom assets. will probably add in more assets as I go but will likely go firm on the mods.
No where near as impressive as Face's pics but this is the early stages of the city.
