After reading a book on pizzas I was inspired to move out of my comfort zone and fermented the pizza dough for a day before using it, and changed around the sauce recipe too. I piled a load of rocket dressed with olive oil on top. Possibly the best pizza I've ever made.
I’m loving having an Aga. We’ve been in this house a week and since day two I’ve cooked on/in it every day. I’m a total convert. Using it to make pizza is a bit of an advanced move, but I’ll get there. I’m told that dough rises brilliantly if you just leave it covered and sat on top.
So how are you making the pizza Kow? You're doing oven and baking sheet, right? I really wanna make homemade pizza, but there's too many opinions out there that confuse me.
Had to look up what an Aga was, looks like something that's in my grandparent's house. I really wish I could have a kitchen exactly like I want, but it's probably gonna be years before we settle down somewhere. In the meantime I just try and add some good appliances every once in a while.
The trick, I think, to getting pizza just right is knowing your oven well. Every oven is different and it takes a bunch of trial runs to get the dough, the time and the temperature right.
I srsly recommend doing pizza on the stove then for the base and then under a blazing hot grill for the top. It's the best way of getting those pizza oven temps at home.
Bought some food for Xmas, bacon for the first time since march, Stilton and brie with crackers, nice steak for Xmas day. Thought I better go get what I need but it was surprisingly quiet and easy. Will pop back mid week for some essential spirits.
I don't normally cook myself anything nice but I'm really looking forward to a Xmas morning bacon, egg and black pudding extravaganza.
In contrast, my Sainsbury's was absolutely heaving and had no potatoes, was in there for nearly an hour. I did get a £157 shop's worth of Nectar points from the lady in front of me though.
I went out for takeaway last night. The excellent Indian street food place from Deptford, Hullabaloo has opened a branch in Greenwich. Impressive timing, thought I should pop in to give them some money while they’re trying to get set up mid-pandemic.
