I think you’d enjoy playing through it and figuring out all the little mysteries, it strikes me as something you’d really like, especially its conclusion.
I'd be intrigued as to what you think of it Yoss. There is zero hand holding and it can be obtuse as all hell, but oh my the pay off. The stuff going on in this game makes other games look brainless. I recommended this game to two mates a while ago - both bounced hard.
I'll also add that the general movement can be off putting at first, as well as the ship control. Learning how to navigate and control the ship is a game in itself, let alone learning the rules and systems at play elsewhere. It's fucking wonderful. Wish I could go through it again blind.
I thought it was ok. good at first, interesting premise, but as i got a bit deeper i got more frustrated. seemed to find myself rushing to get back to a certain place, dying, then not being sure if it was cos i shouldn't be doing that bit yet or just needed to do it better. which is the problem with this 'groundhog day' style where you find yourself repeating the same steps over and over to get to a specific point just to try something different.
Yeah it can be frustrating for sure. I gave up multiple times. The thing is, you're never really more than a minute away from getting back to where you were. It just feels like more because it's like the universe man. I reckon I fell into that black hole a hundred times before I realised that doesn't actually dictate a failed run...
I'm a few hours into this and I think it's great. I think there is some really clever thinking that has gone into this game, so not surprised it was a critics favourite. Most notable for me is how the sense of scale changes rapidly depending on whether you are in space or on a planet. It constantly swings between perspectives that feel like Super Mario Galaxy and No Man's Sky. I can imagine this is no small feat and would love to see this team unleashed with a bigger budget as they have tons of cool ideas at play here.
I probably wouldn't have bothered with the last-gen version as it's all over the place, but hopefully the "next-gen" patch means it will appear on more radars now.
I have to say though, this game has to be one of the best ever at allowing you to overwrite your save file.
