As a sorta sub genre, they just tick all my boxes.
Lived with 2 guys in just such a band for a long time, saw lots of similar bands while they toured. (Melbourne, at one stage in the 00s, must have had 6+ really good a really popular live hip hop bands)
Love seeing the different approaches they all take, love the freedom of style that tends to come with it.
I also have a hard on for horn sections, so LH nail me on two fronts.
Nice, while I was in Germany and I visited Hamburg I got quite a bit of exposure to German hip-hop. A majority was commercial as we know it but there were some gems. I never remembered the names but the woman I visited there is on her way to Liverpool in a few weeks so I hope to extract the ones I was into out of her.

Oh and there was a French band I found years ago, 2002 or 2003- they were live hip-hop but I always thought they were called the French Funk Federation- though in recent times that's not yielded me any results. It does my nut in every now and then when I try to extract whatever the hell they were called from the web and get nowhere.

Yeah, I can't remember names, but I recall Germany had some really awesome "underground" stuff.
FYI: If you're looking for more along the lines of LH, and to see what I was getting at, you could check out:
Think LH but with a string section instead of a horn section.
The Cat Empire. The most successful of all the hip hop bands to come out of Melbourne. This live album shows them off really well. Felix (the MC) is probably the weak link, and really not to everyone's taste, but the band are as tight as all get out, and they have some awesome tracks. A lot more of a party vibe than LH.
My old housemate's band, Fizard, and Melodics, were my other two favs, but never got to releasing their full length stuff. A massive shame, as they were both cracking. (The Fizard album still exists. If you recall my friend who died earlier this year, he was the bass player. We've been talking releasing the album on all the sub services just to have it out there for people to here it.)
Highly recommended, there are some extra tracks in the download which don't feature in the youtube playlist. Hard to believe the tracks are 20 plus years old. Timeless stuff.
