Booted it up this morning to find a 1.5gb update (Xbox One) and wondered what it was for, until I read that there's story DLC announced for release tomorrow on Xbox and PC.
No price mentioned but iirc Bioware said all DLC would be free for Inquisition. Not 100% on that though, so I could be horribly wrong.
I was indeed spectacularly misinformed about the DLC pricing, as the new one is £7.99. Apparently you should be at least level 20 before attempting it, so I'll leave it for now. I'm only at 17 after nearly 48 hours' gameplay!
Did get my first - and then second, shortly after - dragon kill tonight, though. Abyssal High Dragon first, then accidentally stumbled upon the Ferelden Frostback again on my journey to another quest. She didn't survive our second encounter.
Started this again last weekend after it appeared in my downloads. I think I might have dismissed it unfairly the last time, while The Witcher 3 is a fantastic game this is a little more up my alley with regards to gameplay and rewards. Anyway, started as a melee Rogue this time going down the subterfuge skill tree. Taking my time to just mosey about the place currently.
Clearing out quests in The Hinterlands and am currently trying to deal with an envy demon at some castle I wandered across via the battlemap.
It turned into a run in and mash button game. The console emphasis just made it some kind of third person hack and slash, which isn't what I wanted at all.
The game definitely has its share of problems, but I enjoyed it nonetheless. So much so that I actually completed it and, shock horror, will return for a second play through with all the DLC.
It might have some qualities as some other type of game but calling it a Dragon Age was misleading. They should have just started a new franchise and called Consoley Bollocks or something like that.
I don't really have the attachment to the series as it was before. Made a couple of attempts at the first one on console (yes, I know, Kow *spit* etc.) but I just couldn't get into it. Didn't even bother with the second one after it got a critical pummelling. Guess I enjoyed Inquisition because I'm a filthy console-loving spacker. I'm quite okay with this.
I can understand the frustration considering I stopped using the isometric battle view thingy within 5 minutes as it was pointless and tactically dull. Speaking of tactics, they're shit too, the character ones I mean. Other than that, I'm enjoying the vistas and what not.
I’ve started a new game. There are so many things wrong with this game, but I am really enjoying it. It really is ‘go to the next icon’ type stuff, but I like just sitting back and just enjoying the story and some pretty decent voice acting.
It certainly had its moments, but in the end (after many hours of play) the MMOness of its combat finally killed it off for me. Plus one of the special classes can't be unlocked due to a quest bug (Paladin type one) so steer clear of that one.
Edit - scratch that, that's a DA3 thing.
It wasn't until I hit my thirties that I realised you could unlock rewards by exploring the map
The bit with the singing was objectively fucking lol, but it hit me right in the feels. Took a set of balls to push that through, it was wholly cheesy and tolkienesque.
