Quite a few people on rllmuk had crashes etc too. My ball of lighting wouldn't move at one point no matter what I did, I carried on exploring and it caught up.
I've think I've pinpointed what I like about this so much. The sound, and soundtrack, are fecking amazing. I don't know if I'm having fun, but I'm really into it.
It's the prevailing sense of absence and all the little mundane details in the world that are grabbing me far more than the writing. Perhaps I could relate to (and empathise with) the characters more if I came from that kind of tiny rural community. But if the writing were strong enough the above probably wouldn't be a thing.
I've not read any of the thread because I'm going into this as fresh as possible, so I'm looking for a straight yes or no from somebody who's finished:
Spoiler:
Is there any point in me keeping a note of the sets of five pairs of numbers that you hear from various phones and tellies? I started noting them down, because game, but the more I play the more I realise I'm not likely to need to use them anywhere.
Egad, this is getting lusher-looking by the minute.
The 'run' speed is actually alright with me. Default speed is stupidly slow, and having to hold down R2 pretty much constantly is (an uneccessarily) mild annoyance.
No good. After each glowy orb activation the game requires you to re-press the button for seven seconds to move faster, meaning untape-retape is required fairly frequently.
Allegedly the 'run' was added at the last second due to fear of it being too slow for players at default, hence the lack of knowledge about r2 on release.
Hurt its (if it matters) metacritic. One reviewer gave it a 40 and it seemed the 'forced walking speed' was the main gripe.
Also, it sucks for people who buy it but don't frequent game-sites and forums they'll probably never know about the non snail-like movement speed and many may abandon it as a result.
My source of pissed offery at the walking now I know about R2 only comes into play when it forces you to slow down inside areas and the long transition from one orb to the next. Once you've seen the first it isn't as striking.
More Emmerdale based on the bits of it I've been forced to watch (honest) down the years. A lot of the time this actually reminds me of a competently made old radio play, in terms of the voice acting.
