Really disappointed with this and so glad I didn't pay any money for it. Even the achievements are lazy (there's only 20 and there's a 100g each for creating and voting on your own gymkhana course.) Dude Bro announcer "what's the first thing you think of when I say Gymkhana" Me: Shit DBA: Donuts! Me: no definitely tedious shit you just have to get through.
The career is ok but there's got to be due another revolution in how driving games play out. This has at least three different currencies being collected after each race, some shit sort of mini achievements, seems obsessed with drifting but doesn't give you any reliable indicator as to when you're drifting. Some times you handbrake round a corner and it counts towards the number of drifts sometimes it just doesn't.
The AI is awful. You start at the back and work your way through them bumping and grinding for the first few corners then never see them again making some of the mini achievements unobtainable.
Any event that doesn't involve something that looks like a car is utter toss especially the Sprint competitions which feature stock cars with big spoilers on the roof. The car is undrivable and the Pack just drive off the leader some 10 seconds a lap faster on teh same difficulty that is unchallenging on every other event type.
Technically I guess it might be considered prettier but there's no track surface deformation.. the tyres just are in the snow or mud leaving no tracks or channels behind them. You can still bounce of tape barriers... I don't I just hoped for me from Codemasters than this lazy shit.
That's not to say I'm not having some fun.. but I'd rather be playing Forza so I guess that's what I'll do.

It’s also a shame that you need to unlock so much.
I’d jump in for a straight racing mode where you can just pick any car, but that doesn’t seem to be an option.

You can pick and choose now Yoss. Private servers as well if you like. Twelve people in a lobby and it ran realy well. One or two very brief moments of lag but good on the whole.
The tracks are great too.
