Yeah but the show has a solid history of shitting the bed at eps 5 & 6 probably going back to S3 or 4. It’s an uneven show and not as classy as it likes to think it is.
It has heart though and Dunbar had so much charisma in those early seasons that I can forgive the pastiche he has become.
Edit
That was in reply to pop and Eric on the previous. I think Kelly is doing a good job tbh
As for quality yeah it dips occasionally. Mainly they can’t do action very well. That scene with Kate chasing the Range Rovers on foot around one bridge was comical as I recall and spoiled a bit of the season (was it 3, the one with the firearms unit).
I've very much enjoyed the show on the whole (not so much this season, it has to be said), but Martin Compston never felt right for the role and as much as I like Vicky McClure I'm not overly keen on her in this either. The extreme coldness of Anna Maxwell Martin's character has been getting the inner eye-roll of late too.
It's all a bit wooden and not very believable. Still an enjoyable show mind. It's shows like this that make realise just how fucking good The Wire still is.
British tv can’t do action and unfortunately this always has a bash somewhere at least once a season. I give the whole show a lot of leeway because I just like it but even I struggle when the guns come out.
episode before steve shoots one of the ocg and within minutes is interviewing the guy from the van who they'd broken out of prison. Was pretty far fetched even for LoD.
Loving the series overall though
He could've just said they came from another planet but seems keen to convince people with his bullshit pseudoscience that he knows stuff. I wouldn't trust him with my lunch. - SG
