Yay I won the bottom 8 final in one of my super coach leagues. Shame there's very little fanfare on the site for when that happens though. A simple "You won" with a little graphic would have sufficed. Next year I will do better.

You know, of all the shitty AFL commentators doing the rounds at the moment, I kinda like Hamish The Hammer McLauchlan the most. He's probably just as big a goose as BT etc, but he has such trouble with speaking coheirently that i can't help finding him endearing.

Well, it had to come to an end at some point.  Freo played out of their skin though.

Could see Womadalaide going out in straight sets, tbh. Freo were stellar, and Adelaide seemed to struggle against a specialist defensive side. Freo are every bit as strong in that department as Sydney, and they shut down Geelong's 3 pronged attack no problems. Tippet and Walker will need to be on fire and getting some pretty amazing delivery.

Hawthorn v Freo in one prelim, methinks.

Sydney v West Coast or the woods in the other. Very interesting. Either combo has a good history.

Ps, don't know what I'd rather, straight sets loss or an absolute hiding at the hands of the hawks.  That one could get really ugly.

It's a fair point. As much as the heart wants to see Swans get up, it's even moreso now all Hawthorn. Collingwood looked a fair way off the pace, and their mid level guys, O'brian etc, looked second rate. Maxwell's gone for at least 2 matches, I reckon. Didak is spent, Dawes wasn't bad, but it's all not the sort of thing that's going to actively win you finals. Jolly has to be coming to the end as well, as great as he's been for them (and the Swans).

Freo have staked some sort of claim, but I can really only see them being servicable in a prelim. Although if they did knock off the Hawks, it'd be a VERY open GF.

The week's rest for Sydney is huge, as is the home final, particularly if it's West Coast who get through. If ever the Swans are going to beat the pies, it's in a prelim with a weeks rest, at home.

If Hawthorn are playing a team that's come off 3 weeks of games in the GF then it's gonna get ugly, I reckon.

Hawthorn v Sydney GF will make things very interesting for my family though. Granddad, my Dad, my Uncle and I all Sydney. two of my cousins diehard Hawthorn. Lots of mutual support up until GF day, and then it's on!

If West Coast come out today and look impressive and have few injuries, it'll also be very interesting.

Sydney and Fremantle played very similar games I thought.  Choked up the opp. forward line and ran hard forward.  Not sure that will work against Hawthorn, their kicking game is too sharp and that hard running game is taxing.  Collingwood was exposed at the end of every quarter when the heat came off the Pies and the Hawks could hit targets with ease.  Hawks by 10 goals in the GF whoever they play, sadly.  

As for us, we're done for the next couple of years.  I expect us to be floating around 10-7 for 2013-14, then reloading for 2015 to 2023.  We've got the talent and Scott will have established his own style well and truly.  S'been a good run.

Nope, they'll be using the cheap china at Xmas.  That said, Geelong's VFL team had a good win v Box Hill Hawks (at least we beat a Hawthorn of some kind in a final).  Roos are better than that, Patersons is a shit of a ground to play at (by the looks).  Two upsets and two according to plan.  Top 4 will progress as per usual. YAWN

McCarthy's situation does put the drugs and alcohol thing into perspective. He may or may not have had drugs as well, but binge drinking sure got him a fair way to that balcony. A further focus on the drugs, if that's what they find, would be a misstep. It's the drinking that needs to be looked at.

Looking forward to the weekend's games though. Having not seen much of them all year, looking forward to what feel can pull out.
