There was Xenoblade, Binding of Isaac Rebirth, Fire Emblem Warriors, Wind Up Knight 2 and Runbow Pocket plus a fair amount of digital ones. DSi only had Sight Training IIRC.

Played through with my daughter in split screen multi player. Good fun, enjoyable puzzles that were generally intuitive. Controls a little clunky at times. Built in hint system is good, though a bit annoying that you can't review the hint when one person might press to show it as another presses a button that causes it to disappear!

I forgot about Fire Emblem. Didn't know about Binding of Isaac, I bet that sells for a reasonable amount these days.

I also bought a DSi. (After having a DS and a DS Lite.) Nintendo are great at adding just one more feature that makes me go from "no, ta" to "oh, alright then". Case in point: I had a GBA, GBA SP, and a GB Micro. I think the Switch OLED is the first time I haven't taken the plunge.

For what could be argued as the most boring delivery driver premise for a game, the mixture of the stunning vistas coupled in with some almost Zen like exploration really worked for me. I played it on easy and just cruised through the entire game eating up the ridiculous story as I went. There were some genuine beautiful moments in game and certainly done that unexpectedly caused onions to be chopped. The last hour was literally a huge movie with small bits of interaction. It really pisses me off we didn't get Silent hills but happy we got this instead.

Glad you enjoyed it but I can't get on with how he goes about a story. Toe curling stuff.

He can have a wobbler when it comes to game design sometimes too. I'm playing through Metal Gear Solid V again, had to rescue some prisoners. Absolutely horrendous stuff, escort mission with a chopper shooting the place up. Did three quarters of the mission no alerts, no kills, all gone to shit.

Loving it apart from that like. And maybe old Koj was pumped before that shambles was put together

Every description of Death Stranding that I have ever read leaves me baffled as to why anyone would ever enjoy Death Stranding. Rev’s review is no exception.

I think I'd enjoy the walking around
  • The walking around is class. As is building stuff with other people. Yeah, agree with Paul about the story being toe curling at some points. There's a lot of wtf just happened..

    It's totes the vibe, man.

I need to go back. Can't remember why I stopped. Koj makes deeply flawed games, but man, he swings for the fences, so the bits he gets right are amazing. (See MGS5, which I have pumped hours into on 2 playthroughs, but there's some later story missions that are just ass.) Those flaws can't detract from the gameplay and breadth of possibility early/mid game.

Clearing large bases/outposts etc mid game when you have your loadouts and gear humming is just as good as it gets as far as a sandbox goes.
I'm still great and you still love it.
  • Death Stranding nails that feeling of going out on important expeditions into dangerous apocalyptic territory. The gameplay loop and sandbox elements, particularly the way multiplayer was done, are really fun and satisfying. I was expecting something much more minimal in terms of gameplay with the way everyone was talking about it, there's actually quite a bit to sink your teeth into and play around with.

The setting suits Kojima's bonkersness much more than MGS's pseudo-realish espionage stuff IMO.
  • At the end of the day, Kojima got to make a game with his hero husbands so he ultimately won.

That's my fourth play of Disco Elysium done and my first of The Final Cut. Initially I was bit put out with the vast majority of the voice acting cast being changed for TFC but I warmed to most of them by the end and it's overall a fantastic upgrade to the original.

It's also kind of fun having memories from the original release that people who first played TFC version won't have since it's apparently a bit of a pain to actually play with the old voice acting now.
  • Inside, loved it, got all the secrets, 9/10

Also i completed Elden Ring (all achievements possible in one playthrough) some time ago, 10/10, an absolute masterpiece
  • I have just completed PowerWash Simulator.  I only unlocked a handful of achievements so I'm going to look them up and start again.

    Islets - PC/Steam Deck - 8

Lovely little metroidvania with great controls and a nice progression. Not many games get me to 100% them but this did even tracking down the final upgrades available in the game.

The only negatives for me is that I felt it could have done with one more layer of power and, therefore, another level of unlocks, but appreciate this would have added to the length of the game. The bosses could have been a smidge more difficult with the final boss encounter a bit underwhelming.

I also managed to get the full life boss achievement by dying as I killed the boss the respawning then getting the cheevo :-D

    Overall, definitely recommended.

  • Tinykin done with all museum pieces, bubbles and optional quests completed.  Might go back and try to mop up some more of the pollen at some point but that's enough for now.  Likely to be my game of the year.  Haven't played anything so laid back and charming in ages.   Just what I needed at the moment.  Top stuff.
  • Tinykin :) It was soooooooo good. I got all the achievements except getting all the pollen in every room because that seemed tedious i'm only missing 10/15 in most rooms. The game is so creative and fun and funny, love it. 9/10

I am still on the first room cos it's so big. How many rooms are there?! I've still got 150 pollen to go and loads to explore, plus the actual quests n stuff.

It's not a long game. I think i got majority of achievements and completed in 6 hours or something.

When you get all the movement abilities it's soooo fun whipping about the place
  • Yeah 6 hours is about right.
That was all side quests except the last room where I was missing one collectible.
I didnt go mad on finding all pollen or Tinykins. I felt like doing that would spoil the experience for me.

A review I watched suggested there might be 15 hours in there if you 100% with all achievements. That would be really bleeding it dry.

The snappy controls and movement make it for me. The levels are great fun but would be ruined if the character move speed was slower or if I had to select Tinykin types from a wheel every time.
  • Is there co-op?  Wondering if my boy will like it and want to play with me.
I am a FREE. I am not MAN. A NUMBER.
  • Speaking of.
I completed Guardians of the Galaxy over the weekend and it was the antithesis of Tinykin's nice control system.
Real spaghetti fingers trying to select characters then moves mid fight. I ended up just sticky to one maybe two moves per Guardian.

I stuck with it though as the story got really quite interesting after a few hours. It did some real nice weirdo stuff that I love to see in SP games, Batman and occasionally Mass Effect did similar. Hard to explain without spoilers. Not quite fourth wall breaking (although that happened once). The scale of the environments and their art design was fantastic its a really pretty game.

The dialogue did grate at times, particularly a aprt of the game where Rocket has a monk on.

An interesting game none the less and one Im glad I finally played through. Much better than that Avengers turd.
