That's a shame, I know Team Ninja aren't the best of story tellers but hopefully it's not all dumb ass-fuckery a la Keanu Reeves '47 Ronin' of which it seems to share some similarities (Western coming to Japan and learning the ways of local culture)It's best not to think about this one too hard. Your grey matter will instead be focusing on Nioh's extravagant combat systems where Team Ninja's work really shines
This appeals to me greatly, finally some more depth to character progressiona complex skill tree offering throngs of unlockable manoeuvres that give each weapon type an incredible depth and flexibility. Your move list may not be quite as expansive as something like Ninja Gaiden, but it's definitely closer to the hack-and-slash upgrade trees of yore
More good news, I loved this mechanics in Gears Vanilla, always good to have something to occupy the strategist impulses - will add an extra layer to the combat along with being able to see the enemy stamina bar (which is a small but imo very significant change to the souls formula)By squeezing the right trigger at just the right time after launching an attack, you'll perform a Ki Pulse, which recharges your Ki meter quicker and grants an extra damage buff for the next few seconds. It's essentially Gears of War's seminal active reload mechanic manifested in melee combat and it's brilliant.
Think we're all in the same boat with this, yay The harder the better.Every boss provides a seemingly insurmountable challenge at the off
As a Diablo fan this won't bother me at all, in fact I suspect it'll excite me. I love upgrades, even minute ones - I'm a stat fiend so the MMO/ARPG Green/blue/purple/orange loot dynamic is right up my alleyNioh has a somewhat questionable relationship to loot, too, where Team Ninja prioritises quantity over quality. There are lots of weapon and armour drops, but the problem is there's so much loot that sorting and selling it quickly becomes a chore. By the game's second half I was frequently not picking stuff up because I was too lazy to comb through my cluttered, overcrowded inventory to sell it.
