It's meh at the moment. Did a couple of hours and it seemed like a game from 6 years ago. I haven't however even glimpsed the main event just yet so it's clearly gonna improve. I'm not hugely amazed then but I'll give it chance.
So far I have soiled myself on three separate occasions and I haven't yet encountered the alien. They've absolutely nailed the feel of the original movie though. Graphics and sound design are incredible.
I bought it from simply games earlier.
I too held off on the Nostromo edition as I'll just grab the DLC later down the line. £32 with delivery for the Xbox One edition!
Now I just have to hope the fiancé doesn't find out.
Might just tell her that it's a very long Demo if she asks

Game definitely has issues. Long before the alien makes it's entrance the game descends into a farcical stealth-a-thon where you have to avoid humans with guns and are tasked with objectives that you have no idea how to complete. Really quite frustrating in parts.
However...
...then the alien arrives.
The first time it got me I genuinely screamed like a fucking girl, and if you never get further than that then that's your £50 well spent right there.
Seriously, it's pant-wettingly terrifying. It's in here with me now and every time I come out of this cupboard I've been hiding in for the last fifteen minutes just listening to it moving around in 5.1, it finds a new way to find me and eviscerate me.
Made it by the first alien encounter finally. It probably killed me about twenty times though.
The game is crucifyingly difficult but not always for the right reasons. Still, there's gold in them thar hills.
If you can tolerate the obtuse systems, the insane difficulty, and the ridiculous fear factor, then there's a lot to like, but I suspect this one won't be universally loved.
I wonder how many people pick this up expecting to be blasting Xenomorphs left right and centre, get royally fucked every time they try and attack it and then trade it in?
I think we might start seeing cheap preowned copies very soon indeed

That wouldn't surprise me Chas. There's probably a lot of casuals who'll struggle to get as far as meeting the Alien, give up in disgust and trade it.
God knows if I'll finish it, but it's certainly worth persevering with. If you can play it in the dark with 5.1 sound then it's incredibly stressful.
I think I'll have to crack out the 5.1 headphones in that case then, love scaring the bejesus out of myself.
Just realised too that I'm home alone all next weekend too!
Think I'll build myself a little den out of bedsheets and the sofas and put the tv in there with me.
