Were they also in a kayak?
So on Friday at Chequers the government will do what it has been doing for the past two years: spend an inordinate amount of time negotiating with itself before producing a “solution” that is unworkable, only to take it to Brussels and discover it is also unacceptable.

Chaos affects them too, especially Ireland. And the longer it takes, the less likely Brexit will happen.Yossarian wrote:monkey wrote:Article 50 will get extended by 12 months. Brexit wankers won’t be happy about it, but it’s a damn sight better than facing up to the horrifying reality.
I’m not so sure about that. What possible reason would the EU have to want to drag this out for longer? Why would they think that another 12 months would get us any closer to a sensible position after the Tories have failed to get there after two years?

No one knows do they? And all my predictions are wrong. But there’s three possible routes - deal, no deal, extension. I think no deal is impossible. A shit deal might be doable but needs the govt to agree, the EU to agree, Parliament to agree, and 27 other countries to agree (which has always been the case but looks less and less likely). Or there’s an extension.WorKid wrote:monkey wrote:Article 50 will get extended by 12 months. There'll be a transition (/implementation period) but not a chance we won't actually be out come Independence Day.
