Lots of genres of metal make reference to the ol' Lucifer. Pop metal seems reasonable, but I'd just go with metal. To me they're a continuation of the Black Sabbath sound.

Definitely pop metal, if we have to call it that. I've always said about them, if they came out in ripped skinny jeans and trendy haircuts and cheekbones, NME would go daft for them. Well thank fuck they don't. They're incredible.
Kow, check out their covers EP "If You Have Ghost". It's perfection. Abba cover on there too. Produced by Dave Grohl no less.
And they also sound like exactly what Outlaw needs.
Had a listen to Kow's suggestion, I quite liked it despite thrash not being my usual thing. Hated the sing songy bits in the middle but everything else was good.
Working my way through the stuff I've not heard from Swirl's list, was gonna start from the top but will start with Ghost given the positive reviews here.
Going to chuck spotify's measly offerings on at work. Does it swear? Because Rihanna graphically describing sex is a-ok but heaven forbid someone says a naughty word.
Discovered these guys recently. They blend metal with traditional Japanese instruments, including a shamisen, which appears to be plucked with a boat paddle.

Mutoid Man have been high on the playlist lately, their first full album is bloody great.
Also been listening to the new August Burns Red (their best for a few years and well worth checking out) and Parkway Drive (hit and miss but a couple of really good tracks).
