Project CARS & Project CARS 2 & Project CARS 3
• I know what you mean, it's incredibly intense.

Was really struggling with the classic touring cars. The mark one escort was a bitch in the wet. A little Google bases research suggested raising the rear ride height and softening the rear suspension and then brushing the brakes before fully applying them.

Still took total concentratin especially in the wet or the dark. Now I'm feeling the shift2 love.

• Left or right on d pad multiple times to change screen set up.
• Yeah I tried that. Nothing I added or moved or adjusted would make it come back. I think it might be a bug. At least that's what they think over at gtplanet

Happy to help pal. :)
• Racing the 86 Lotus Renault (John Player Special) Turbo F1 car was immense around Donnington. The car has a massive wall of turbo power when it hits and spins the wheels in pretty much any gear if you're not used to it. Totally different from the last single seater I drove. It has massive downforce though and as you get used to it and learn to trust it the lap times came tumbling down. Great race.

The next round the rain starts at the end of the first lap, the AI don't pit but the rain gets so heavy that the car just aqua planes off by the third lap. It's literally undrivable on slicks.

Next attempt I pit the AI don't and it's such a long pit lane that they've done half a lap and I can't get back on term before the three laps is up.

Fucking tried and tried last night to get some kind of result. Really sums up the PC experience. The driving is great. Everything else less so.

• They are sorting the pit stop issue out Bob, it's been patched on the PC its just going through the PSN/live approval stage apparently.

• Yeah. Apparently the ai know whether it's going to rain and if it is within 2 minutes they start on wets. After 2 mins they pit. I should've thought of starting on wets but no one would do that IRL.

• Only just started this on Bone. Tough to control at times. What settings have people changed to make life a bit easier?
Unless someone very obviously insults your loved ones with intent, take nothing here seriously.
• Hodge try these nicked from the official forum:

Steering Deadzone: 0
Steering Sensitivity: 0
Throttle Deadzone: 0 (you want it to represent your input)
Throttle Sensitivity: 30 (stops you spinning)
Braking Deadzone: 0
Braking Sensitivity: 30 (reduces lockups and gives you better control)
Clutch Deadzone: 0
Clutch Sensitivity: 100
Speed Sensitivity: 65 (This vital it to stop high speed twitches)
Controller Filtering Sensitivity: 0 (the higher it is the more input lag which you don't want)

Advanced: Off

controller input mode: 3(set this before other settings)

also if your new to the game then think about adapting to the car your driving rather than trying to tailor the settings for the car it will make you a better driver. If your still geting used to the game i reccomend driving the lmp3 cars as they are easy to drive and good fun to learn the ropes

• Car set up is vital too as they are all pretty much undriveable out of the box GTplanet has a sub folder with a lot of useful info

• Thanks Eric. Had a quick go at some sort of touring car but when I started career from karting it was clearly off.

I was going to get Forza, but the track list on this has swayed me at the last minute.

Might still get Forza next week, but I'm hoping this will keep me gripped until it gets a price drop.
• I've been playing a lot of Forza 6 recently grinding through the SP so I could probably do with a change.

Having said that I know Forza will be polished and balanced straight out of the box where as it always takes a while for Slightly Mad to patch theirs to a non pad smashing level.

• I think they've learnt from the last one. Although I might put bone x on my Christmas list

• Do it Bob!
Live, PSN & WiiU: Yippeekiyey
• And then I'd play forza 7 but the career has always been a bit grindy.

The track list in PC2 and the focus on actual motorsport should make it a clear winner

• 13 gigs to download? Guess I won't be playing tonight then?

• First impressions are excellent.

Started off in the Ginetta Juniors (Which will be familiar to anyone who watches ITV4s coverage of Touring Cars).

Did a few practice laps and surprise surprise the thing handles straight out of the box. The pad feels fine. There's still lots of options for fine tuning pad set up and I'll have delve about the internet but everything is explained much clearer this time.. but it actually delivers something that enables you to drive a lap without changing anything. Something the first game didn't manage.

The race engineer feature is great. You can actually tell him how the car feels and he'll suggest changes and then make them available for you to choose.

Out into Qualifying and the race director is pretty strict about track limits (Not Charlie Whiting than haha) but as you get to grips and push harder the lap times came to me.. the AI comes out on to the track, you can warm the tires, make space for yourself.. there's a wealth of on screen information as to how your doing time wise too but it's unobtrusive but really helps you know where the track time is hiding.. it also lets you know your optimum lap based on your best sectors..

Anyway 9 minutes of Qualy passed in a flash and it was time for work.

So far recommended.

Yeah, I've been enjoying it on PC. I've never been a big fan of qualifying, but I'm enjoying the tension it provides if it comes down to the last lap.
• I prefer to be offered a qualifying than random grid or starting at the back as then the AI has to be unrealistic to enable you to be in with the chance of a win.

I'd rather put it on the grid and have a hard fought race long battle with a couple of cars.. I think. We'll see.

• First race was class. Got a good start and held the lead but got passed second lap being over cautious .. reeled him in over a couple of laps and out braked him into the final corner to retake the lead..

Was two seconds ahead with two laps to go pushed to hard and dropped to third after a bit of an off. Managed to salvage the podium.

Onto knock hill in the rain

• I take it all back, When you get past the Ginetta Juniors it's back to being an unplayable mess.

The Clio Cup cars oversteer like fuck when you come out of corners no matter what you do with the set up.. helpfully the race engineer recommends more rear downforce that cant be changed on this car.. it's an undrivable mess.

Never mind I'll try something else. Track specials in the wet.. where the KTM crossbow oversteers on the straight.

I can't believe any play tester sat down with the default settings and played the game and signed that off as playable.

Getting traded.

I wont be getting caught a third time.
