Rather like a packet of Star Wars Revels, Battlefront 2 (Beta) is a mixed bag, but always guaranteeing a treat or two.
Late last night managed to play for a few hours, but I died so frequently it’s too early to say if the class system will alter the original’s almost insta-death experience or I’m just a bit shit (or both).
One noticeable improvement: playing the objective earns points to access the hero characters and vehicles instead of players rushing for spinning icons straight into a camper’s crosshairs.
Slicing about the Palace with Darth Maul is a dream realised, but my dark lord, I was completely enthralled by CRITERION’s vastly improved mission-driven space levels - sans HUD naturally!
Uncomfortable wait to play this again tonight.

I look forward to playing this... when it hits EA Access.

I think they are doing a ten hour trial for Access.
I will play that then wait for it to be added in its entirety.
I am only interested in a bit of Starfighter and the campaign.

Skerret's posting is ok to trip balls to and read just to experience the ambience but don't expect any content. "I'm jealous of sucking major dick!"~ Kernowgaz
Plays fine. Slightly slower pace than the last.
I had quite a few games today it was alright, didn't set me on fire though.
I'll get it for single player and star wars.
Yeah they captured the Star Wars sound and visuals incredibly well but the gameplay was pretty rank in the first one.
Can't just lean on those impressive visuals again.
I don't think this will be the sales phenomenon a Star Wars shooter should be. Certainly a case of EA Access perhaps hindering sales more than anything.
Edit: I'm talking shit aren't I? This will sell by the truck load.
Fair comments on the first’s flaws and the big team battles still seem chaotic because no one squads up, communicates and plays the objective.
Strike mode is a more focused 8 vs 8 affair. Essentially capture the flag shenanigans which fits with my play style.
Starfighter level captivates and makes me feel as if I’m ten again, every moment grinning like a cat.
Personally, I learn the objectives then switch the HUD off and fully immerse myself into the Star Wars universe. Unconventional, but what a buzz to use your senses rather than rely on radars and icons cluttering up the stunning world. That’s entertainment.
