I've been on holiday in Syria. It was great. Apart from the explosions.

Yup. I went with the wife in 2014. Where abouts are you going?

We aren't that advanced in our planning, missus wants to go wherever the nice beaches are. Any part you'd recommend?

What time of year are you thinking? Avoid the Italian summer holidays as the beaches are jam packed. We stayed on the south of the island and there were some fantastic beaches by us. There is a really nice large one on the west side but I think it was pretty remote. I'll have a look and see if I can dig up their names.
  • We were thinking of going mid june for 7 nights. would appreciate that goober. How were the beaches and the water?

edit: italian schools break up for summer holidays from 8th june. i might have to change our dates....

Tiger - is 150,000 won enough per day in Seoul?
  • Just fir food and drinks?
  • I booked a flight... for holiday...
  • Osaka gave us pen pineapple apple pen, you must go.

It's known for its food and humour, and unique kansai accent, much more err, melodic? Up and down rather than stacatto. Look up chow chow as well, kansai region folk can have a whole conversation just using the word chau.

I'd go, but I'm biased as the missus is from there, and ridiculously proud Osaka massif.

When will you be in Seoul? Currently working for something that will be on display there from June onwards I thinks. Not sure if I'll be able to see it, so you should go and film it.

    Where're you're going Tempy?

Fun fact, Osaka people are known for loving leopard print stuff. When I was told this it dawned on me that the missus has an unusual amount; trainers, socks, little sneaky bits like the inside of a bag, sleeping t-shirt to name a few. Not full on external clothing leopard print, but there's often a bit somewhere on her person or in her possession. Weird.

Chotto, I actually started lessons back in January but knew bits and pieces prior to that from various sources. Feel like it's just about now I'm starting to get a grasp on some of the basic elements. I've been neglecting the reading/writing though.
  • Seems Piko Taro isn't from Osaka, or maybe the character is but the guy isn't? I need to ask the expert.

Felt like the vegas of Japan. Dotonbori was utter nuts and I possibly put on some kilos there. Drinking culture was off the wall. Went to the big castle and even that was ludicrous. An exercise in excess.

I have two holidays ahead of me this year, which I'm deeply excited (given I've managed a week in Wales over the last two years).

Easter is a few days I centre parcs that we only just booked (yay!), then the girls' first trip to France in August (near Lyon, sharing a villa with my sister / their cousins). Looks really nice. Mum's 70th. Happy days.

Howdy, Stranger!
