Well pirelli got that truly and utterly wrong.
Re-layed track surface and all three tyres were graining to the point where the drivers were going around sooooo sllooowwwwlllllyyyyyy.
Thank god its one of the best race tracks of the year next, canada.
So the new aero kit in indy car is affecting the turbulent air the following car is driving into and causing cars to spin out. It's spectacular, we could have done with this at monaco.
They need to do something with the aero that makes following close beneficial, not detrimental, a bit like in cycling. That way you would get lots of overtaking and swapping of positions.
I also liked the idea of the qualifying shootout a few years ago, but not its implementation.
Here's my version.
They should have a special qualifying tire that takes about 15 laps to come to life properly, and lasts for about 30 before dropping off.
The cars cannot pit, and so have to be fuelled for the whole session.
At regular intervals the cars with the slowest laps get eliminated from qualifying.
I've suggested it before and I will suggest it again. Trophies from each race should be attached to the winning cars for the remainder of the season as ballast/aero-irritation to keep the racing 'interesting' throughout the season.
It would make for some interesting non-races where most of the field try to avoid being on the podium when the trophies are heaviest/least aerodynamic.
