And I'm not at all convinced by A. Not to the extent it would swing 650,000 voters, in the UK, from Stay to Leave.

Obviously it doesn't sit right with me what happened either, and hopefully heads will roll, although it doesn't appear to have been illegal activity, so far anyway.

Interesting, 'cause here's the thing. I don't think the social media propaganda strategy would've been as effective without the groundwork laid down by 'conventional' media like Murdoch. You need that for A to succeed.

    Propaganda strategy overview:
Using conventional media and propaganda, divide society 50-50 on bipartisan issues. Then come voting time identify swing voters on social media and target them to vote your way OR suppress their vote by convincing them their vote won't matter. Depending on the individual of course.

Theoretically, this could skew election results a certain way and is a sound strategy overall. Unethical, but sound.

Facebook (social media) are idiots for not realising their platform could be abused in this manner. Targeted personalised ads are their core business and therefore targeted propaganda (including fake news) are a logical extension. They need to rethink their business model and practices otherwise governments will intervene.

  • What's the latest that I can renew my passport to avoid having a Brexit one for as long as possible?
  • God knows but I bet there is a rush on them when the blue ones are released.
  • Will there be a "Printed in the EU" stamp on the back?

Utterly ridiculous. The eu red ones are made here for british citizens. So instead of giving that company the contract for the blue passports we give it to a french company.

How about putting british companies first for a chance? Fucking incompetent idiots. As much of a muppet trump is, at least his "america first" is better than what we do. Other countries i.e. germany for example allow domestic companies to tender for domestic contracts first. Over here politicians will bend over and drop their trousers for a tenner of any foreign money.

Oh and i voted remain, incase im coming off as an leaver.

  • The Government cited "EU rules" as to why it was an open tender, but the company that currently makes them fired back that they are barred from bidding on French passport contacts as they aren't a French company.

I have no issue with using a French company. I just find it farcical given the type of pro-brexit arguments we hear.

Aren't pint glasses made in France too?

That could be one of those Euro-myths - but I think at one point most British pint glasses were made there. There are certainly a lot of 'em made by arcoroc.

Given we are the only ones who drinks pints I always though it was weird we imported them.

Actually, pint glasses are pretty common in France, they’re used for large beers which tend to be 500ml.
  • Oh,just had a flashback there of some colleagues embarrassing themselves by giving out to the barman for not filling their glass in Brussels.

Robbing people of 68 ml, and rubbing their face in it at the same time.

No wonder we voted to leave.

I'm not sure as it's a new experience, but I think I might agree with the daily mail here. It is unbelievable that they can't even get this ridiculous, jingoistic bit of nonsense right. It's the one promise that should be reasonably straightforward to deliver on. Unimportant, irrelevant, completely out of proportion with the costs, but at least it was something for these people to have. A pure blue British passport that they could invest some sort of weird patriotic fetishistic pride in. And even that's been denied them. It's not the same blue, they could have had it all this time anyway, and now it's not even going to be british.

My view is different. If France is cheaper, let's use France. It shouldn't matter that they're the other side of a bit of water. But given we need Europe for stuff like this, why the fuck are we leaving?
  • Heh, I don't buy for 1 sec Mercer and Bannon were out of the loop with CA. They don't seem like the types to invest when left in the dark.

Fb data may be well out there but it's them (Bannon and Mercer) who were caught with their hands in the FB data cookie jar? Trying to build an omnipotent doomsday top secret propaganda machine no less. Right up their alley methinks.

Public sector procurement is based on VFM principles, getting the minimum acceptable outcome for the best price. So all that this tells us is that rules were followed and the most VFM bidder won. Given the austerity ridden state of the country, this doesn’t seem like a bad thing. It’s still hilarious - anything that gets these cunts frothing at the mouth gets a big thumbs up from me.
