Yakuza - it's like Shenmue, but actually fun to play
  • This game feels markedly different to 0/Kiwami.

Combat is not as fast, but that might just be due to no upgrades yet. Going to take a little while to adjust.

Virtua Fighter 5 is amazing as a bonus.

The city has some kind of bitter-sweet feeling to it. I have been having a look at some of the olf favourite spots and I was bitterly disappointed to see the absence of

  • Kiwami is £9.99 in the PS+ sale.  Dunno what to do now.
  • Obvs you buy it and play it.

Finally unlocked the clan creator stuff. Top notch.

    Any idea what the

  • I'm poised to over splurge in the digital sale, I'll dodge it I think.  I've only got so many big games in me per year and I don't want to ruin my chances of enjoying no.6.

UK sales for Yakuza 6 were a record high for the series despite GOW.

  • 4 hours into Zero and i'm still not clicking with it. Will forge on, but so far it's providing to be really front loaded with lots of clunky dialogue scenes that take just too long to click through than is comfortable.
  • If the clunk doesn't click it may not be a trip worth taking.
  • Cos there's like... four? five? ways of delivering dialogue, I'm talking specifically about the stuff like meeting Bacchus, where the dialogue text has a slow crawl with no Zelda style speed up, and then when it has finished loading there's no X to skip to the next part. A minor thing but it drives me mad for some reason.

  • Doesn't it do the Bayonetta thing too, with still frames/wandering camera in places?

Yeah it is a bit front loaded with introductions to all the things you can do. I would say that in chapter 2 (which you would be at already) just ignore the pink map markers (ie story missions) and go exploring.

I have that music in my head now. And Bacchus is great. I wont hear a bad thing said about him.

Yep. Its low-fi during cutscenes. Forgivable because the story is pitch perfect when serious and perfectly ridiculous when its meant to be.

  • Now at ch7. Back in Kamoroucho and got the Clan Creator poppin', side stories aplenty too. Best game.

I really have no idea what’s happening in Clan Creator. Or Majong.

The rest is wonderful though. I maybe prefer 0, if I’m honest.

  • I think I do too, right now. But really, it's all because of Majima. That backstory was insanely good.

Clan creator is good if you just treat it like a F2P tower defence game with no towers. Found a reddit post with loads of secret codes so now I have Majima and Daigo in my squad, and a bunch of wrestlers.
  • Completed Chapter 5 now - Game's really heating up.  Some comedy gold at the end of that chapter.

  • Today is Goro Majima's birthday, apparently. Plenty of awesome fanart going about twitter.

    Happy birthday, you brilliant bastard.

  • Not really going to say anything much about Yak 6 other than to comment on the music. I think I am around chapter 4.

  • FUCK YES DREAM COME TRUE!!!!!!!!
  • So between the announcement of Shenmue III and the release of Shenmue III, Sega will release roughly 20 Yakuza games.
  • Yes.

And I have zero complaints. Recent PS3 playthroughs of 3, 4 and 5 made me really crave for a zero/Kiwami-style tidy-up, preferably on the 6 engine.

  • I saw the weird cam girl bit in 6 last night. Bafflingly strange and a little skeezy. Unsurprisingly one of the girls is a famous japanese porn actress. Surprisingly, she was born in Birmingham.
