Destiny 2 - Developed by Bungie
  • No brainer for me I'm afraid. I'll probably get rid of the Xbox to give me some extra cash towards it.

And I can use my elite pad still.

    Win.
  • And you can easily get it hooked up to your TV etc, but unless you've got really good wiring or internet I am not sure I'd advise Steam Link just yet.

Though if I get this new flat I can maybe give a better review of that as its very much dependent on your house, and the lights in my flat currently flicker because of the rain so I can't give a solid review.

Honestly, you won't really get a decent PC for 500. Not unless you are able to build it yourself. PC Specialist are on of the best companies around for custom build PC's though. If you're interested.
  • Chillblast are good too: https://www.chillblast.com/chillblast-recommended

Building your own is not too tough, also the best resource here is GurtTractor who basically built mine for me, in all but practise

Also I don't think you'll need at GTX 1080 to run Destiny 2 on max. I would imagine a 1o60/1070 would be fine.
  • That new AMD stuff is supposed to be really good for price/power, going off what Gurt says.

Oh yeah, I'd forgotten about their new cards. Definitely worth investigating. I recently got a laptop for work with a 1050ti and 16gb of ram so that will do me I reckon even if I have to bump her down to medium/high.
  • Seems to be plenty online that pack a punch around the £500 mark.

    What about refurbished?

You have a few months until Destiny 2. I'd start saving and get a decent machine. The crowd Tempy linked are good, or else PC Specialist. Those new AMD cards may be worth investigating. There's always a lot of research involved when buying a new PC. Don't just buy the first good deal you come across. Ideally you want:

    i5-7300HQ Quad Core
    GTX 1050ti or above
    16GB DDR4 Ram
    256gb SSD

Those are good starting specs to aim for. But like I said, those new AMD card sound good so maybe research those a bit.
  • Maybe send GurtTractor a message if you're serious, he knows all the numbers

Otherwise wait for the inevitable "so you want to buy a PC to play Destiny 2" article
  • I'll look into it cheers lads

Can't believe it's not already a daily feature on Eurogamer.
  • I don't want to sound all conspiracy nut here, but surely that xbox one X is more than capable of running destiny 2 at 60fps? And 4k? So why isn't it? Does the deal with Sony mean bungie can't make the xbox version look better?

Might be totally wrong obvs but it crossed my mind earlier
I'm falling apart to songs about hips and hearts...
  • Because anyone playing on an Xbox One or S wouldn't have it running at 60 fps or 4k.

I reckon you're right Matty. Bungie's exclusivity deal with Sony mean's they really don't want to make Sony look bad by having the X-B-O-X version running at true 4k and 60fps. Don't bite the hand that feeds you 'n all that.
  • Biggest disappointment of E3 so far is the D2 XBX performance. Was always going to be that way but still disappointing.
  • Given that Bungie didn't allow cross generation play due to the advantage this would give some players, I've no idea why anyone was expecting the Xbox One Ten version to have a performance boost.

Honestly, given the design philosophy, the more shocking thing is that there is a PC version.

I'm not sure I subscribe to your logic Dante. I mean fair enough about family parity but the Scorpio is supposed to be "the most powerful console ever made" and yet here we are, staring down the barrel of another 30fps outing in 2017. Seems a touch hyperbolic to me.
  • The problem with the "most powerful console ever made" is that it's not Xbox 4, so you're going to find things like this.

PC is more of a wild west, but people expect console versions to perform the same. If they aren't going Scorpio only (and they won't, because that would be insane) then you're going to see problems like this.

If Destiny were designed differently, you might see single player in 4k/60, and multiplayer parity, but it isn't so we won't. Frustrating for people who are looking to buy one sure, but not frustrating for people who aren't making the jump.
  • Chalice if you get PC and Destiny 2 can you play with Xbone people playing Destiny 2? What about PS4?

Sorry this has probably been answered already but i'm at work and got shit to do.

No. There's no cross play for Destiny 2.

    Thanks.

    That is a shame.

My decision will have to be based on who to play with instead which is best experience then. Balls.

Probably will patch in better performance down the road but it seems to me Scorpio is a 4k machine and 60fps will not be a priority on cross platform games. If so, what's the point of it?

I'd take 60fps over 4k any day. Not sure what the fixation is with 4k when most people don't even have 4k tvs.
  • Well I want both. Would prefer 60fps but not gonna get it, hopefully they patch in 4K, but I doubt that too Gonz, what makes you think they will?

4K baffles me too, probably easier to go for a res bump than ensure solid FPS given CPU bottlenecking or something.
  • Yeah, it looks like 4K is more easily achievable. The console manufacturers are making money from streaming movies at well, 4K has already arrived there. All TV's being 4K seems kind of inevitable, it's not like 3D or VR, it's just something the whole electronics industry is gradually moving towards.
  • Yeah, it'll get there, it's just not there yet.

From a players point of view though, fps would generally be the better upgrade.

Just seems a small bit laughable at this stage that we still aren't able to get 60fps as standard on our consoles when PCs have been achieving this since well, day 1. I was playing CS at over 100fps back in 2002. And yes I know, graphics and physics and all that but still. The next generational update has to absolutely guarantee 60fps. No ifs, buts or maybes.
