Mage Knight has kept me up until 1:30am a few nights on the bounce now.
Went full out Blood Mage build last night and it was ridiculous. Rampaged through the world, burning Monasteries and taking hold of Mage Towers. Sure, nobody liked me, but it meant I could savage my way through high powered enemies using my myriad of artifacts, let them hit me, then send the wounds to my opponent's deck. Absolutely obliterated him in the end, taking over both castles on my own! If we'd bothered adding up all the fame points at the end I suspect I might have crept over the end of the board.
This game is a time sink, it really does take a long time to play through, but it's without doubt the best board game I've ever played.
Dixit with the family last night. Always a treat, though a few games in and I'm starting to wish we had some new cards...
That dixit art is lush.
The marvel thing is a deck building game. Similar to Diminion but with a splash of MTG apparently. You can play it solo too.its getting good reviews, came out in November.
Santa delivered Game of Thrones board game, looking forward to giving it a go. Â I bought discworld game for family, hopefully get to play once this period soap shite's finished.
Got a game of discworld in, actually really enjoyed it. Was rule-heavy for those not used to such things, but quite straightforward really. Â Good strategic potential on future plays, lots of different elements, but you have a reasonable degree of strategic control if you're paying attention.
The example round it gives you is very useful, came in a second pamphlet in my set, but basically you get one action and then one buy (and you can skip either or both). Cards do exactly what they say, and this game has done an awesome job of making them very clear. Just remember that action cards do things in the order in which they are printed on the card; so for example if it says +1 Card at the top, you draw that card before you do anything else printed on the card.
I've always like the 'Magic' rule
Step one - read the card.
Step two - read it again.
