It would be a gimmick if the designers couldn't figure out how to build a game around it. It's a gimmick in every Ikaruga rip-off I've played. But the original, it's a thing of delicate beauty. Nothing is left unsaid and nothing outstays its welcome. How much invention they got out of that core mechanic is mind-boggling.You really are fond of chatting with me, aren't you? I'd like to see Escape from the Planet of the Robot Monsters make it in there. Â Bite-sized arcadey fun without too much stress, and with a whole load of character.

I don't think I'd have the patience for Skies of Arcadia anymore. Nice game but so slow. Would need an overhaul of its repetitive combat and those drawn out ship battles. -
The ship battles were drawn out? Could just be my teenage self being enamoured with MOONSTONE CANNON FIRE! but I can't remember them being too unreasonable. -
