Happened to be a coffeeshop we designed, so bonus for me. Turns out she’s actually meeting the owner to try and win his advertising contract, so I made sure our interview ran on late and I ‘accidentally’ bumped into the guy as he turned up to meet her. Big grin, handshake, “bloody hell, it’s been ages – how are you?” etc. Then he says “I need some advice on my advertising strategy for this chain, what should I do with X, Y, Z …” I give him a few ideas, two mins of advice, and he’s thrilled. All in front of my interviewer, who is about to try and win that exact piece of work with him. Yep, nailed that interview and threw in a reference/testimonial before even walking out the door.
