Killing off captain bastard was the worst move in any franchise I have seen. As has been said everyone would have watched a spin-off with that jazz hating bastard. Stupid stupid.

Now to the big negative. The Borg decided to implant something into Picard, who they had in their pocket and were sure he was a lifer, to pass on to future generations. Despite the fact that he always put career first and was the least likely person to ever have kids. That whole premise was beyond a stretch.

So, shitty writing out the way onto the good stuff.

Data is nailing it as a being with a semblance of humanity now. I thought all his scenes were spot on with that lovely touch of putting his hand on Picard’s shoulder to comfort him but the getting it totally wrong with Geordie.

That end scene got me right in the feels. Yes it’s corny, yes it doesn’t make sense, but it felt right and you can tell it was shot by a team who loved TNG.

Onto the implausible ending.

The Section 31 series with Michelle Yeoh is now a made-for-Paramount+ movie. Probably the best they could wrangle at this point given her fame exploding.

I wonder if they'll use it as a back-door pilot for a series without her.

I just finished the finale. And blow me down, they delivered a good series of Picard. Who would have thunk it. Im genuinely floored.
There was some wishy washy stuff and some contrivances but in general it was all fine. Ill rewatch it again at some point, but I liked it a lot. That old gang have a certain chemistry that has not gone away and it kicked me repeatedly in the feels.
It wasn't perfect but in this day and age of Kurzman Trek it was nothing short of a masterpiece.

Okay, just seen the post credits bit. Yes! Very happy for more. The chap who plays JC has a bit of the Shatner charisma about him. Throw in the La Forge sisters and 7 of 9, and I’m here for it.

Just finished Discovery Season 4. The last few episodes are actually pretty decent. I think it’s my favourite season of Discovery despite a bunch of therapist speak and nonsensical plotting in the earlier episodes.

Star Trek: Prodigy has been cancelled and Season 1 is being delisted from Paramount+ at some point over the next few days. Season 2 is still coming out. I really liked Season 1 so this is a big shame.

Strange New Worlds is back for season 2 - so far I am not as excited by it as I was with Season 1 - I think the first 2 episodes should have been done the other way around

Agreed. That said though, I love the series in general, it's back to proper trek as far as I'm concerned.
