There's a difference between 'extra stuff' and what's core to the game though. You're talking about one of the central mechanics here that allows the game to do what it does and get so much mileage out of it.acemuzzy wrote:Also fwiw I find "without extra stuff a game would be worse" a weird argument. Focused experiences, done well, are often better than scattergun ones - adding more stuff doesn't magically make it better. I didn't find the witness "limited and boring" despite it just being line puzzles, for example - but I get that others did, so fuck knows really.
I suppose I could say it's objectively better in the sense that you wouldn't have much of a game at all without it. Whether you like the particular direction it takes or not is a different matter.acemuzzy wrote:Clearly adding some stuff to a game is important, otherwise you wouldn't have a game, I'm just saying that (imo) there are limits - even in terms of core mechanics. I thought I was gonna be playing one type of game, with the added stuff it turned out it was something quite different: some of that worked, some of it didn't. Meh, not really worth arguing more over, cos there's clearly individual preferences at play. I find a stance that it's objectively better cos core mechanic X a hard one to buy into, though.

Turns out Freshly Frosted isn't great. Classic moot basically. I guess it's fine but boringly easy for the first two worlds at least...Moot_Geeza wrote:Sounds like Muzzy might enjoy Freshly Frosted as he clearly can't handle the irrefutable excellence of Humanity.
