Yeah, but you can't play on Turf with the original Erotic Clockwork in person though. No reason that the LAN could be for those who show up early enough and we could do both.
  • Sod LAN, We could do laser tag in the streets!
  • Laser tag is lame, PAINTBALL in the street!
  • Fuck it let's get the plastic bullets and riot shields out

With my smoking habit, I get out of breath playing Halo. Force me to do actual exercise and I may end up asphyxiating on nothing.
  • So someone's coming as Cortana, someone else will be Sgt. Johnson and now Yoss needs a nurse.

How the hell did this end up being 7 pages?

Ah well, looks like there aren't any major issues with March 2nd, so I'm calling it. Also, it does rather look like most people want a combination of LANlols and go-out-and-get-hammeredlols, so we'll see what we can do to accomodate that.

So, Funk, before we go too far down the road of organising TVs and Xboxes, have you cleared filling your home with nerds for 24 hours with your wife? And where in London are you?
  • Yeah pretty much. Depends on exactly how many nerds, I think. But in principle she's coo.

    I'm located in NW2.

Okay, so far the list of interested people looks something like:

    Dante
    Rouj
    Lester
    Jimmy (the Lips)
    Acemuzzy
    Fenton
    Vastik
    Funk
    Tempy
    Truthahn
    NMD
    Nexx
    Bobby Danger
    Hulka
    Mostly
    Gremill
    Vicinity
    Billy
    Petey
    Elf
    Knight
    Nana
    Shyam
    MK

Have I left anyone off or added anyone that isn't interested?

Also, I'm up for trying to keep track of who's in need of and who's able to offer beds for the night. I believe Funk and MK possibly had room for people, was there someone else as well?

I may do the same for forumites who are driving down and have spare seats in their cars, so if you are going to drive to London, make yourself known and we'll see what we can do about some eco-friendly car-pooling goodness.

Sweet. I think that we should all (excluding Funk) chip in a pound or two to buy Mrs. Funk something nice to say thank you. Flowers, p'raps?

Now, I've never organised a LAN type thing before, as far as I'm aware, we're going to need:

    4 x Xboxes
    4 x TVs
    4 x copies of whichever games we're playing (I'd suggest CE, 2, 3 and 4 meself)
1 x Router (presumably you have this, Funk).
    4 x Ethernet cables
    16 x Joypads

    Am I missing anything?

Ahh, NW2.  The home of acemuzzy for the first 22 years of his joyful life.  The postcode that introduced me to the SNES, N64, PS1, PS2, GC; to SMB, SMW, Zelda, Metroid...; to life; to love.

And it'll be forever tainted by meeting you badgers there too.  FFS.

I've added you to the list Nick and stuck the list in the updated OP.
  • If I unlock the Pioneer Perk in time I can offer a lift from the Midlands. Passengers may need to be tolerant of accidental touching when I need to change gear. Even the ones in the back.

TBH she's going to get half in the divorce when she walks in on Nerdfest '13.

Maybe in order to mitigate this, we should tie Funk up and gag him to make it look like it's against his will? I'm doing this for you Funk.

    Router/hub.

Not sure if most/some routers have 4 ports. We used to have a hub which is just all ethernet ports, for LAN, it made things easier. Still, it's been 3 years or so since I've LANed at all.

Also, the other thing to have in these sitchos is lots of extension cords and 4X powerboards and whatnot. Trying to plug everything in can be a pain.
I'm still great and you still love it.
  • I'm in too! As Gremill realised on the weekend, I'm totally pokemon-ing this forum. Soon I'll have dirt on you all!

  • I'm so up for this, been playing halols with you guys for what 5 years? Might be a touch more.  I probably have spent more time having a laugh with some of you than I have with many "irl" friends.

    What I suggest is -

We all bundle round Funkstained's house around midday.
Set up a massive Xbox LAN party and test it briefly with Halo 2.
Order a few pizzas for lunch.
Switch to Halo 3 LAN games after lunch to help us digest while have a couple of beers.
    Espressos.
Head out on the razzle dazzle.
    Bourbon/tequila/gin/ale/lager/wine/whatever
Back to Funkstained's for Halo 4 LAN games and quality German beer.

Of course Funk can just tell us to fuck off, i dont even know if he was serious.  but if someone is willing to put us up for the night I will do my best to clean and tidy the next morning. And make breakfast.

I'd be quite happy to grab a few rooms at a cheap hotel in the centre of town and do much the same thing.  At least then we can order breakfast and I won't feel so guilty about leaving a bit of washing up.
Today is the shadow of tomorrow.
  • Forgot to mention we would need dinner in that schedule, either back at Funks or a meal out.

Chicken and wedges totally acceptable, Belgian beer also awesome. Have you tried Erdinger though?

Would love to, but I can't make the date. Finish up my contract in Korea on the last day of February so making it to this will be impossible.

    Another time, I guess. :(

Gutted I'm not going to get to meet some of you guys. Like Billy says, we've been playing - to various degrees - together for years now.
