Just back from the Jazz gig, Hole in the Wall, Jean Toussaint Quartet.
I think I'm a convert, that was incredible. Started off slow and threw me a little but as the tracklist grew I was loving it. His tribute to Stevie Wonder was perfection.
Going to be a busy old November for gigs....first Ladytron play O2 Academy Liverpool ( a home coming gig of sorts, but find it a bit odd they're touring now when the new album isn't out till next year) with able support from Stealing Sheep. Then its Hinds @ Arts Club (who have taken an absolute age to play Liverpool, so it would be churlish not to go see 'em, seeing as I've seen them countless times every other place). And then Pip Blom round things nicely off at The Shipping Forecast at the end of the month. Curiously, it's the latter whom I looking forward to most - shit venue, but its small and presents an opportunity to experience their recent output up close, which has been nothing short of stella.
It wasn't until I hit my thirties that I realised you could unlock rewards by exploring the map
Thinking about maybe getting tix for Bodega at the Art School. (Quite brave of the venue to think it’ll be open again by February, but I’m game if they are.)
Golden Plains lineup announced for curious cowardly Australians or heroic visiting Englishers: Four Tet, Happy Mondays, Jesus and Mary Chain, Beach House, Magic Dirt (YES Face), Marlon Williams and The Internet for starters AND got in the ballot get in

Christ on a bike Stephen Malkmus was good. Stoned as fuck he managed to put his guitar over his head and solo several times, then gave us Starlings and Stereo as the encore. Long live the 50 year old alts.
Went to Taylor Swift last week - had a ripper of a time! Was the only massive arena pop show I've been to and it was almost worth it just for the atmosphere. Show itself was a top shelf production and Swift was fantastic performing and working the room. Only slight negative is with a show that big it must be hard to improvise, and it seemed to run to a pretty tight schedule. That's fine but I do enjoy concerts being a little looser and maybe playing something unexpected.
That's the worst I'll say though. One of my favourite concerts and will definitely go see her again.
Wanted to keep the magic alive (on a smaller scale!) and see Aus rockers Tired Lion at the local bar - but the drummer broke his arm and they had to pull out. Maybe next time!
When you got movies like Tom Cruise in them, you can't lose
Zapp tonight, pumped. Saw them a few years back expecting them to be not great but was pleasantly surprised by one of my favourite gigs ever. Similarly cautious tonight.

Stacey Kent at Bury met last night. Easy listening jazz, found it all a bit samey then they let the drummer do an almost ten minute improv and I lost my shit. Good vibes.
Massive Attack at the MEN Jan 29th too, Mezzanine XX1. One of my Christmas presents. Fucking buzzing about it.
