If you have a iphone, BaSS is well worth it for the 8 bit sounding voice samples. The main guy is a legend.

Sadly, my phone only does phone calls and text messages. Thought about getting a fancy one for games but the price just never makes sense.
You really are fond of chatting with me, aren't you? If I didn't know better, I'd think you had feelings for me!
  • Contract upgrade here, but yeah, you're not missing that much.

It's free on SCUMM VM I believe
  • Back on Ketsui with shmupMAME and Espgaluda II Black Label thanks to my new favourite Jap importers (out of the two I've ever used).

Also, Trials Evo after a break from it last week. Almost impossibly good, this has single handedly kept me from putting any serious time into Skyrim, Amalur, and Dark Souls since it's launch.
  • Was playing Akai Katana Shin, now trying to beat FL scores on DoDonPachi Resurrection.

Just finished the demo of Nolan North's new game, Spec Ops: The Line. Much better than i'd expected. Nothing amazingly new or original but the shooting is very tight, satisfying and it has a fair amount of nice vistas.
  • After the footage of Sim City 4 at E3 I had a real inkling to play a 'building stuff' type strategy game. So I fired up Rollercoaster Tycoon 3 and played it for ages! I do have a soft spot for these games, especially theme park games. There is something so addictive about creating an awesome park and watching all those little blurry sprites wander around with happy faces.

No, no, that's sort of what I mean - having lifts and traintracks and things in an ostensibly ancient castle seemed conceptually off.

It could be interpreted that the castle has been there much longer than those that built the mechanical system.
  • I played a bunch of Civ 5 over the weekend. To get a feel for it I basically set everything on autopilot. The ability to have workers go about their business was really helpful.

I was playing as Russia on the Asia map. Germany and Rome kept being dicks to me and I wasn't really expandeing because of their needling. Eventually my borders were flush with Mongolia and I was sick of them building wonders ahead of me and always being a handful of turns ahead of me in research.

Obviously, I did the only thing Russia would and send a massive army of tanks, artillery and footsoldiers out of Moscow and start wiping them out. Luckily they had bult a brilliant transport network which I annexed, razing any cities not connected to it.

Next time I play I really need to figure out how to specialise cities.

Super Mario Galaxy 2... I'm having so very much fun so far, only 9 stars in but each one has had me grinning. Can't quite believe I didn't buy it on release.

Collect all the green stars too or I will kick you in the face.

  • OutRun: Coast 2 Coast. It's been a while since I last played this, won't make that mistake again. Just wonderful.
  • Still playing Comic Jumper in between Trials sessions.  The into-the-screen sections are a bit shit, but I'm enjoying the rest of it now.  Near the end I think (played for about 4.5 hours).
  • Dark souls. Loving it.
Sometimes here. Sometimes Lurk. Occasionally writes a bad opinion then deletes it before posting..
  • Mega Man 2 on my NES emulator. Still my favourite game from that decade, its awesomes.

Green stars, wait what? What are they?

It's still so awesome by the way. Love the different tools Mario gets to play with.

Finally started Dead Space 2 at the weekend. So far, so exactly like the first one.

Bugger, I was hoping for something better. I think that Dead Space is good though I'm not a big fan of survival horror but I remember a lot of people saying how much better DS2 was the first instalment. I must say that DS3 is looking like it would be more my thing than the first two.

Supposedly Dead Space for iPad is a thing of beauty, it did look good on the iPhone.

  • I found Dead Space 2 extremely tedious and frustrating after a while. And its supposed to be scary which is a load of bollocks.

I loved DS 2 but the only new thing it adds to the mix are the rooms where you can blow the windows out and depressurize the area.

DS2. I keep forgetting I have that fucker.
  • I played the first hour of it a couple of weeks ago and didn't mind it, but haven't felt the urge to play it again yet.  Much like the first Dead Space in fact.

I much preferred 1 to 2, but I was swept along by 2 and finished it (with dedication) over two days. Chapter 13 is one scary mofo.
  • A mate gave me Medal of Honour Airbourne. Anyone played that? Haven't played an FPS for a while so hoping it will be fun to blast through.
  • 10% into the Undead Nightmare DLC for Red Dead Redemption, and loving every bit of it. Just makes me wish more for a GTA-game from Rockstar set in a zombie apocalypse.

I enjoyed that when I played it. It got a tad tedious towards the final few levels, but the parachuting in was a nice touch. I did play it ages ago so I'm not too sure how it holds up nowadays.

  • Cool. My expectations aren't high anyway so it should be worth a run through.
