Nah. I'm being a bit cheeky.
The base game is fantastic, and there's nothing game breaking at all. It's a great great game, and even if all you do is play 30 odd hours and build a couple of cities then it's worth getting.
But there's basically an infinite way of doings things and heaps of qol stuff that are absolutely brilliant. So if you play it on epic, and feel like the itch is there to keep playing after you've "finished" a couple of cities, absolutely get it on steam and dig into mods.
I'm still great and you still love it. -
Basically enjoy the free game, but if you intend on buying any DLC buy it on Steam for the sake of completeness with mods.

Oddworld New & Tasty is today's Epic game. Is that a remake/remastered version of the original? Certainly looks like it.

It is. Proceed with caution, the only comparison I ever saw of them suggested New n Tasty fails to capture the charm of the original.
