I did most of NG+ and even started another run, but I couldn't be arsed to go through it all again.Djornson wrote:You should try 3 again. It's so so good.

Nah. Not enough variety - too many big bloke in armour types, too many empty arenas - too much emphasis on learning attack patterns, and cheap multi-part design.hylian_elf wrote:Had the best bosses in the series you momo!Yeah, and the linearity and too many shit bosses.

Matthewmatosis did a video about this a few weeks ago. tl;dw Too many games is a big part of the problem but it's the increasing focus on simplistic action that robs the series of its appeal. For me, Bloodborne gets away with it because the setting and fiction was engaging. DS3 bores because it's that over-familiar fantasy world but with almost all of what made Demon's, and to a lesser extent Dark1, interesting.
At least the constant referencing of Dark Souls (why not Demon's?) in games coverage seems to have subsided.
Lost Izalith is the only bit I don't like. It even seems unfinished, like they just copy-pasted some enemies in to fill it up. And Bed of Chaos is the one boss experiment that completely fails.I think DS1 gets a lot of leeway here. Lost Izaleth is trash start to end. Tomb of the Giants is the underwater level of Dark Souls games. Up to S&O it is perfection but after that I think 3 is better.
