Cheers all. Might take you up on that offer Dante. For now though if anyone fancies giving the latest version a test would be much appreciated...now's your chance to be extra picky about typos and little things that before you were perhaps too kind to point out - as well as any game breaking bugs you can find.
The issue I'm aware of is the player rank that's displayed before a race gets messed up with multiple players and starts showing the same rank for each. Also the camera clipping is something I'm hoping to improve.
Other than that, anything you spot will be very helpful - and/or crush my spirit and delay the game for ages!
Hello peeps.
Trying to get some people together this Friday from 9pm for a (hopefully final) beta test session, and to record some video for the game trailer. If any of you are available and could join in that would be great.
I’ll have to install Steam, but anything for you Ram, ANYTHING.
Would you want the controller testing, do I have to faff about getting drivers installed? Actually I’ve just bought a Steel Series Stratus thing, does your game support MFI or whatever it’s called?
Seriously though, don't put yourself out too much...I'd maybe allow you to install steam just to test it, but don't expect you to faff on with drivers and whatnot!
I think it will support standard xinput devices, but I'd never even heard of a steel series stratus until now, so no idea if that would work.
Had a quick fiddle on Mac (with 360 controller) and it seems fine, apart from a rather off putting rectangle of screen in front of the car which is slightly offset from the rest of the screen. I've probably not explained that very well but I'm hoping you know what I mean. It's mostly only noticeable on the tarmac bit, which might explain why it looks like a rectangle.
I think that's to do with the way unity automatically adjusts the quality of lighting and shadows etc based on the distance from the camera...usually just noticeable as a horizontal line across the road.
Would you be running at some ridiculous resolution on Mac that might make it more pronounced?
Probably. I think I upped the resolution to get some more screen real estate when I did a fresh install. I ran it windowed at 1920 x 1080 though and it was still there, I'll have a fiddle later.
If 'the thing' is that noticeable to you, would you try to grab a screenshot that shows it? just the thing i'm thinking of is fairly subtle, so i'm wondering if you're getting something else....are you on mac too workid?
Also, I've literally just pushed a minor update to the steam build...if you've already got steam open and plan to join us tonight, if you exit steam and the re-open it should pick up the update. if you don't do this, it should still work fine, it's just to fix something that was causing a bit of an unnecessary performance hit
hey all. Thanks again for those that came to play on Friday night.
I've updated the steam version again with fixes for the little issues that cropped up, and some additional tweaks (including some performance stuff for Dante!).
Planning on doing another test this Friday from 9pm again. I appreciate that some of you have already put in the time and are probably sick of the game, but if any of you fancy playing again, or any new blood wants to join in, that would be great.
Also, am I going mad, but didn't trippy post in here after the last session with a link to his game and something about 'while this thread is hot'?
