Up to 50 tumors in The End is Nigh. It's fucking hard work though! I now need to remember where the thing was that wanted 50 tumors, though given I'm midway through Golgotha (aptly named) I'm likely to crack on through that before jaunting off round the map...
I got to the end of Golgotha, and it said I needed more tumors. I still have the other fork, but a bit frustrating to have to play all the way through that section again once I'm at 100...
I tried the bit unlocked at 50. And couldn't even do the first screen of it. Fuck that shit!
It's not very obvious how to actually complete the damn thing!
There's a good chance I'm mistaken and you're further through it than I am. I don't want to ask about a specific thing because it's spoilery though. So...as we were.
I haven't started Resi 4 yet I'm afraid - but it's very high up the list. I'm not (re-)playing Meat Boy - Moot sponsored me to complete The End is Nigh (by half the same peeps).
... and I think I'm close now. I've got
Spoiler:
the head and the body, and am on the heart level, and there's not much more room on the map, so I'm guessing that's "it" for the credits
Spoiler:
But no doubt that'll just be the easy bit... I'm at 75 tumors or so now, having now understood the ??? bits a bit better, but the glipses of "the future" I've seen have been far from welcoming.
Still, at it's peek, some of the levels here are top draw pure skill platforming. The airship world in particular is superb - holds its head up high alongside any SMB3 equivalent, that's for sure. Deserves more credit than it got I think - a somewhat unsung blood diamond.
Agreed. I'm not sure what the correct definition is for these games - the specific YOU WILL DIE A LOT instant restart types - but TEiN is pretty high up the list for me. The murky visuals and frankly weird tumour humour shtick is a barrier or sorts, but once you're in it's comparable to Meat Boy - less enjoyable to play (screens tend to require a more measured approach for a start), but just as rewarding to succeed at.
Just loaded it on Switch for the first time in ages - stats say Gloom, 29% complete, 2118 deaths, 5hrs 33mins played. And when I load the game I have 105 tumours. RE: credits:
Spoiler:
I'm on the second part of The Future bit, and iirc there were no credits (otherwise I would've been straight on the 52 games thread, obvs). It felt like a soft end of sorts - light world done kind of thing - but I don't think any credits rolled, so Future is required for completion. LEL.
the past, and made my friend, and hence reached THE FUTURE
Surely that counts as done !
I'm already struggling in the first world there. It's fucking rock solid hard. Each and every screen of it.
In terms of earlier stuff, are you meaning
Spoiler:
the way it's rehashing the same levels, but with harder shit (all "mines" so far, but I'm guessing other worse additions ahead?). That's exactly the same as light/dark in Super Meat Boy isn't it? Or is there yet more evil ahead? It's certainly pretty genius to take already great levels and then have evil versions of them!!
Is it clear that my number of lives is ticking down? I don't remember it warning me, or seeing anything saying so. Was I just being blind, or is it a "haha suprise you just died back to the start" type affair? I've already lost a fair few and only have ~80 to play with...
Ah wait. I thought did a really good just of not spoiling that for you, but looking at a Wiki levels list it turns out I jumped the gun one stage early. You're not quite there yet, sorry! (The thing starts on a set of levels aptly named Anguish, which starts when you finish The Future).
