Guess I'll have to; one's just disappeared again. It feels like it's linked to some poorly thought out memory optimisation thing; it happened while WhatsApp was loading contacts.
I have a macbook air from 2009/2010 running on 2gb of ram while optimal performance requires 4gb.
It's sloooowww as molasses. OSX has a ram compress thingy running in the background but it's totally inadequate. Takes ages before stuff is compressed and loaded into ram. A dying battery doesn't help matters either.
And I thought the days of ram as a bottleneck were behind us. Android could definitely use better ram management.

I'm surprised standard RAM amounts on computers hasn't risen more. Pretty sure I had 4GB at uni and that was over a decade ago.
Anyway, think this phone's going to have to go back. It's awesome and I love pretty much everything else about it, but this notification situation is unacceptable.
4gb ram has been standard since windows vista/osx lion. Seems android and iOS are steadily moving in that direction too. More ram is really only required for gaming/video editing purposes. Or if you want to have 100 tabs open simultaneously in Firefox/chrome.

Yeah, can't say I've seen anything that looks worthwhile myself. I mean, it says something that I'm totally happy with a £25 phone for everything but this stupid notification issue.
I guess overheating may be less of a worry now; the Tom's Hardware review I was just looking at talks about how much it's improved on the XZ1 Compact.
Was that aimed at me? I know the segment of the Android market that interests me, it's just dying (or, hopefully, going into hibernation) so I'm left picking between a small number of options which are all bad in their own way.
That really does sound amazing. Actually holding the tablet up to his face? I saw somebody walking down the street in London using a tablet as a phone, but they had a hands free kit plugged in.
I've set notifications to "urgent" and have yet to miss any since. Think I'm happy to say that, for me, this is definitely the best phone on the market right now.
It's annoying that my favourite wallpaper app isn't compatible and I've yet to try the notification based note one I used to like, but those aren't really big deals.
Still pissed off there isn't a shopping list app I like, but it's so nice to be back on Android.
