It says summat about the Naughties that the robot helmet gimmick was a). taken srsly and b). is still the packaging.
Getting the capital for an entire animated movie was pretty impressive though, actually the entire handling of their contracts and licensing and shit is remarkable and I should know more about it than I do.
I guess what's missing from daft punk is any musical journey, specifically acts nowadays seem to be able to add melody and counter melody - usually after lots of tense repetition (a sort of tease), leading to a sense of Euphoria.
Instant Crush with Julian Casablancas from the strokes is my favourite daft punk tune - I could listen to a whole album of him singing to daft punk tuneage
I am out for pints tomorrow night and will be Tony Hawking Friday night.
With that in mind I will call the deadline for Daft Punk as Saturday 1pm (lunch time).
The next round is Annie Lennox. Any and all where she sings.
Daft Punk is a tricky one to pick a favourite for me, as I've just never been a fan...and God knows I've tried. They're the sort of act I should love, but they've always been the musical equivalent of The Emperor's New Clothes to my ears.
I do quite like some of the most obvious hits like HBFS and ATW, but the majority of their output just does nothing for me.
That being said, I quite enjoyed that album they did a while back that sounded like summer, so I'm going to go ahead and pick Horizon, which is the bonus track from the Japanese release of RAM, because it's just a lovely thing.
Daft Punk result is inconclusuve. No more than one vote for...
Da Funk
Aerodynamic
One More Time
Harder, Better, Faster
Random Access Memory
Technologic (my vote)
Let's run Annie Lennox while picking a new artist, open to decent suggestions. If there is no more Lennox chat I will just scratch that round.
Do we dare do Biggy vs Tupac?
Is there someone more topical?
Is there anyone that someone is desperate for and that will gain some traction in discussion?
Who wears short shorts?
Is it Outkast?
