Sorry mate, traded my copy of PR months ago. Just as well, because the servers are gone. Apocalypse wasn't my thing at all.
My timing was even better than I thought. Asked people to get together to play PR in the same month that the servers were turned off.
Played Apocalypse for the first time today. I don't think it's my thing either. Played the prologue and the first race and it's bloody awful. I'll give it a chance, but my hopes aren't high. After the vibrant Pacific Rift, this is extremely..erm..brown.
Sad news, but dirt showdown and the F1 Karting obviously did terribly. They at least seem ready for next gen hardware, the PC versions of heir games seem pretty well regarded as far as the graphics go.
So...it's basically a free-to-play Unbounded? Considering that game was one of the worst racers I've ever played, I'm not seeing why anyone thought Driftopia was a good idea.
Hard to tell where this is going. EA needing a new shooter to alternate with BF now that MoH has been put aside? Racing games simply not getting the big sales EA looks for? New hardware means new games?
Yeah that is a shame they won't be doing a new racing game. I thought Most Wanted had done pretty well, certainly one of my favourite racers but perhaps it is EA pushing them in another direction.
Whatever the reason, I'm still interested to see what the new project would be.
I welcome it, Most Wanted was very lacklustre after its initial novelty wore off. There may be a grace period with the new hardware where any new IP will get lapped up so we may see some of the ambition that welcomed in this gen.

Having moved to PC gaming, I've been enjoying a lot of the PC 'sims' with my G27 wheel.
Just bought Game Stock Car 2012 (crap title, I know) and it's amazing. It's built on the perennial rFactor engine but with a significant number of modifications to the force feedback (which is the stand out feature), graphics (although still a little simplistic compared to current console racers), and decent AI.
It covers the Brazilian V8s (no, I'd never heard of it before either, but they are good fun), Minis, Formula 3, Formula 1, and Camaro (horrible, understeery tanks).
Other significant mention goes to the Power and Glory mod for GTR2. This is a complete overhaul of GTR2 to cover the 60's and 70's race cars. It's quite something to be trying to tame a 70s 911 around Barcelona at midnight in a thunderstorm.
Yeah, I returned to Race 07 on PC the other day for a quick race (I don't do wheels though, I'm afraid) and forgot just how good it is. The AI is spot-on and the handling is great - plus, the Injection version I have includes all the expansions, meaning I get a ridiculous number of cars/styles to choose from.
The F1 games come out later so that the stats more accurately portray the action that occurs during the season. Makes it far more realistic, especially considering F1's unpredictable nature.
The car specs are more or less known. That's why it's called Formula One. Or are Codies going top be programming tyres that blow up after 5 laps. I guess that would make it interesting.
Can't say I'm bothered either way, the F1 games are dull as shit. If I want a simulated racing experience, I'll stick Race 07 on my PC - far more exciting.
I really liked the last WRC 3 game on Vita.. Rallying really suits handheld play sessions so I'm interested.
@Mod.. the specs are known? Even if that was the case the relative performances aren't known until the season starts.. Who'd of predicted Mercedes being kings of Qualy this year as an example or Williams winning a race last season or Mclaren ending their record point scoring run?
That's the least of Codies problems with their F1 games anyhow.
I suppose it depends on whether accuracy is worth more sales than launching at the start of the season. Codemasters should know better than us, but they convinced themselves that cockpit view wasn't important for Grid 2, so I'd take their figures with a pinch of salt.
I've said it before that it's a tough license, realistic F1 is always going to sound better than it actually plays. That seems like a good reason to prioritise launching at the start of the season, ride the hype and forget how good or accurate the game is. Sell it and patch it.
I'd argue that the true fans want a realistic experience.. it doesn't have to drive so hard that only 22 people in the world are good enough to actually race it.. but everything else should be in the right place.. They certainly didn't get that right and I doubt they've gotten on top of all the bugs either.
