Oh of course. Things get discounted but that's not good for the market, or the developer or the industry. Surely better to price things more sensibly to begin with?
Well there's always been those aa games in the market - not quite the big leagues but worthy of a box on the shelf. I remember in the PS2/Gamecube days when you'd see them launch at £19.99 and you'd know exactly what they were. That's what this seems like
If seems like me to be more along the story driven wpisodic games like Telltale stuff and Life is Strange. They tend to retail at £15.99 for the season! Certainly not the full £50.
I would like to play through Until Dawn, but certainly not at full price.
Gamertag: aaroncupboard (like the room where you keep towels)
There's also, of course, the concept of perceived value. It's no secret that the PS4 is starved for boxed exclusives this holiday, so having a £50 exclusive on the shelf, regardless of quality, will do good for them. See The Order for Sonys prior form
There must be a balance to be had. They probably figure they'll sell the same amount if it's 30 quid or not, (all the thirty quidders will buy it when it's that price) so might as well grab a few extra twenties.
It's got that cheerleader from heroes which has got to help!!
It might seem like a bargain AA game at the wrong price point, but it sure wasn't supposed to be. If they had intended for it to be a bargain game all along then they would have budgeted accordingly and it would be priced properly. What's happened is they wanted AAA and spent a ton of cash on it, but it's not ended up like that.
It started life at Sony London over 5 years ago, they borked it and Sony gave it to supermassive. It was supposed to be PS3, heavily use the move controller and should have been released ages ago, but Sony had loads of negative feedback about the move stuff so they decided to make this ps4. They ditched the main female character and got that famous actress in, and remade lots of the game.
Games made like that tend not to end up working out, but if there's some enjoyment to be had then that's cool, hopefully it won't be a total stinker.
