What do we need to see actual gameplay for? It's not like they're going to suddenly change how it plays from the last two games, just refine it a bit and add the driving.
Good point. From what I hear, whoever it was that did Origins managed to break the engine and Rocksteady are actually doing this one on a different generation of hardware. They've probably fucked it up.
I was listening to the new Giant Bomb this morning and one of the guys on there seemed pretty nonplussed from what he's played of the new one - apparently you can 'strafe' the Bat mobile which just sounds a bit shit - and the puzzles where you have to go from on foot to the car sound a bit jarring.
Hopefully the delay will mean they have the time they need to make it good - but it it wonder if they've stretched this as far as they can.
I'd have been far more excited for a sequel to Asylum (in a similar smaller environment) personally.
The Batmobile was always going to be hard to get right. Not sure why I'd want to drive when I find the ziplining and gliding so satisfying. Fingers crossed they can find some use for it.
Batmobile needs to be really fast and have that corner turning grapple thing from the Burton movie. What have they given it? Three types of gun and some glowing red lights for "combat mode". Wonderful.
After watching that batman demo at the Sony conference I am pretty confident the batmobile adds exactly nothing I want to this game!
The devs originally thought to themselves that Batman needs a great fluid way of getting around the city and they came up with the glide mechanism in Arkham City. It was nigh on perfect, they just need to refine it a little and that's it.
The batmobile looks clumsy and cumbersome in comparison.
And the strafing canon shooting bits look so effing boring and completely uncharacteristic, cmon!
he strafing did look a little weird but as long as they don't overdo it it may just add to the variety. Plus they've contextualised with the story with batman going all out on wonderful toys.
In normal driving mode the car looks amazing I thought.
The city looked great. Almost GTA great. The batmobile seemed to work well within the wide streets as it easily ploughed through walls and gates. Still, may be a little pointless. The whole idea of blowing up tanks goes somewhat against his ethos though.
equinox_code "I need girls cornered and on their own"
Looks great.
I'm still to be convinced about the whole sentry bots/tanks and strafing batmobile gunplay thing though.
Batman don't truck with no guns innit.
Batman has always been about breaking someones legs not shooting someones leg.
Edit
Batman is a particular type of psychopath. A determined up in your face one, if he's going to cause you pain he's going to feel your nose pancake against his fist, he's going to feel your arm break through his kevlar gloves.
A gun toting psychopath is easy and less disturbing.
