Can these be used offline after initial setup?
I'd be worried about the paired phone app more than the device itself.

Hodge, I’ve taken mine everywhere so the short answer is yes, but you’d be missing out on Netflix, YouTube and online multiplayer etc.

I’d say it’s different in that your Quest content will not linked to a social media account. Will also help anyone mistakenly ban hammered.

DIY Paddle

Materials
20mm Plastic pipe - cut to 125cm
Pipe insulation - cut to 32cm
4 ‘O’ rings
2 cable ties

Tools
Hacksaw - to trim pipe.
Pliers - to fasten ties tight.
Sharp knife - (not that one) to trim insulation.

1. Put insulation on each end then roll on ‘O’ rings.
2. Once one controller is secured tight, use a table top to position the next so it’s parallel. Don’t tie the triggers down

Place a fan in front of your position (round ottoman recommended) to the sound of ‘Hawaii Five O’.

Loving it!

It’s so beautifully immersive I forget about the headset and it’s all about the Kayak’s movement and paddling techniques. Keen to let my wife experience this and the time trials will definitely appeal to her competitive nature!

They’re bundling Beat Saber, which is nice. Must be selling well! It’s still good value for a stand alone device that doubles as a wireless PCVR headset.

Depends on when it’s coming out. Suspect it’s least a year away but you never know with these.

While it doesn't initially feel as comfy as the psvr, the fact its wireless means I'm keen to have a quick blast and it some how feels more fun and less hassle.

It also seems to have a real retro arcade feel to it, that motor x game among others gives massive hits of nostalgia.

I'm looking forward to actually playing VR, I didn't expect that.

If you ever used to play Counter-strike, find the Pavlov Shack beta (that’s the name of the Quest version) on the App Lab. it’s great but might take you a little while to get used to the locomotion - at first I would get pretty VR motion sick from the locomotion (as you press the stick to walk/run), so would have to stick to 10 minute sessions then stop as soon as first signs of wooziness/felling floaty.
You soon build up a tolerance though, and after a few weeks could play for the 2 hours straight it takes for my Quest 1 battery to run out.

Right on the money there, but will say the ‘elite’ and similar style straps are much more comfortable.

Likewise, feels like a massive table top diorama we could only dream of as a kid.
