As I'm spending more time with it I'm liking it more. I find the handling very understeery which I don't like and I don't like how it unlocks the modifying stuff in the same order every time because essentially I like to lighten and concentrate on handling which are the last things to be unlocked... someone did say it was a crap idea and it turns out it is.
But the skyline r34 is a lovely thing to drive with the power transfer to the back giving you a lovely bit of over steer on the way out of corners and in places the game looks lovely.. racing on maple valley as it got darker and the AI cars brake lights flashing as they went into the corners and it looked gorgeous.
There's definitely a lack of variety though the way the campaign is set up each races is exactly the same and each event is quite long winded by the time you've done 3 laps of practice and then 5 or 6 race laps.
Also there's a lack of street circuits which is sad as they where some of the best tracks in 7. Regular circuits have a habit of all looking a bit samey even though they've tried to give them some personality.
Went XR2 and the builders cup lived up To its name as eventually coaxed enough xp out of it to
Live up the big boys. By the end I had to start 3rd but I managed to win it first attempt
Spent over an hour last night trying to get a party of two into the multiplayer. Absolute fucking joke, could not get a single game. Endless loading screen on choosing a car for either or both of us. Fifteen minute 'practice' waits followed by a game hanging on race start. Players on the track list but not in the game. Shambles. Deleted and will never be played again.
Although that echoes my experience with Horizon. Could not believe that on FH5 launch night the same convoy bullshit issues were still in play. It is literally over a decade since FM2 made FNF almost effortless.
I've only tried the featured Multiplayer and it's rock solid netwise..
During the early access week it was quite good.. the week after it was brutal with people just smashing you off every corner and either not getting penalised at all or a .5 second applied after the race which is pointless.
the GT7 system of instant lack of performance and ghosting is a much better way of doing it.
I'm still chipping away at the career but hopefully once the casuals move on the featured mutliplayer will be decent again.
I like this when I play it, I just dunno if I can justify it the storage space it needs when there's other things I wanna try just now, and have no space left. Went on for a "quick go" two nights ago and by the end of practice I'd had enough.
Definitely a "need to be up for it" version of the franchise as I've never had this problem before.
Fuck I feel for anyone working in game development.
No matter how hard you work you've got whinging, self entitled "gamerz" complaining and issuing demands.
Remember the time when if you bought a game and it wasn't as good as you hoped you would just shrug and stop playing. Perhaps play something else.
Now people hound, harass and harangue developers online until they get their way.
Not everything is The Best or Shit. Theres many levels between that, lets just enjoy stuff.
Games kinda fucked anyway. The two top sim racing leagues have dropped it, people hate the car progression, penalties are fucked and the AI is ruthless. Everyone's went back to GT7. I'm bloody hoping to, on my PS4 as well.
Gotta say, for it being the "gears/halo/Forza" box for years and years, that's MS 0 for 2 on this gen AAA.
It's a shame cos it seems a bit rushed for release..
The semi sim driving genre does need a refresh so I applaud them for trying something different with the career but this isn't an improvement. Mind you I didn't like that cafe book shit on GT7 either but at lease the multi-player on that was rock solid.
Aye, GT7 launched with a bunch of issues too, and the single player was…a bit crap. But the core there is absolutely cracking and they’ve fixed up a bunch. Plus VR, yum.
Both games are so sterile in SP mode, the genre needs a kick up the arse/ fresh blood entering the ring.
What disappoints me more though is the time it's taken them to get this iteration of Forza out. I can't really say it's any better or worse than 7 tbh from a gameplay perspective and graphically it's not the leap people were promised/expecting.
Update 5 also adjust the AI to make them stick less agressively to the racing line, adjusts the start so there's less bunching giving the first couple of AI cars an unassailable lead and also adjust the way parts can be fitted ..
