EDIT: Apparently a beta "event" will launch June 29th. From a Eurogamer article -

"You'll need to sign up at www.Dust514.com/beta to be in with a chance of participating. Entrants will be chosen at random to test the game throughout the weekend."

I guess they're opening up the closed beta somewhat.

I've just been on PS Home and I didn't see a Dust space, so I'll keep a look out for it so you guys can get in.

Ah I thought that might be what you were asking. Well, it's still really early days but I've had a good amount of fun so far, but I haven't played many recent online shooters like BF3 and MAG (I seem to remember there was a thread for that on the Oldrum, how many people were into that?), mainly because I got bored of them ages ago (been there, done that, got the xp, pretty meaningless except if you're playing with mates). But in Dust the connection to the EVE universe and the Corporation dynamics and other stuff I'm not sure I can say really interest me.

So err yes, then.

Quick update on the PS Home E3 event with the Dust 514 space, the first 10000 visitors of which will apparently get some kind of beta access. According to this blog it's going live in 3 hours (8.00 PM). Unless daylight saving time has thrown a spanner in the works.

So if you want in the Dust beta get on PS Home @8.00

The actual game is going to be free anyway isn't it. Jumping through hoops to play a proper beta when that's the case seems pointless.

Well I Sussed it in the end , luckily my boy slept thru it. Didn't have to win a game of slay either , got it from viewing the vids in the dust room .Â

Just downloaded 1.6 gb client Â and now 1.6 gb update - don't you just love sony's beta and update bollocksÂ

It is a bit of a faff so the 10000 might not run out too soon.

1. Go on PS Home and go to the E3 Booth, not the the theatre.
2. Go up to the big statue of a soldier outside the Dust 514 booth and hit X to load the "Event Horizon Lounge" - that's were you need to go. (I'm not sure if you have to complete the VIP pass quest or not, I did before realising the statue was where I needed to go, fucking hidden door basically. The VIP stuff takes maybe 20 mins.)
3. Well according to Kerno you don't have to win a game of Slay, just watch all the vids. I did both and didn't realise till this morning that I had to go up to one of the little vid screens near the recruiter, and it shows you the code.

It might take as little as 15 mins to go from XMB to code, maybe more depending.

Home is a completely soulless pursuit, another great idea by Sony that they royally fucked up. It's sad it turned out the way it did and I'm shocked it's still ongoing.
