Cool. Brady game guides should be treated with care. The one for VII feels like a drawling comic whereas the advice from the guide for XI is legendary amongst the community...
I've just started playing Final Fantasy IX again. Haven't played it since launch but it still looks and sounds great. Only five hours in but I'm really enjoying it. It's probably my favourite entry in the series, with FF XII close behind. Also finished Final Fantasy XIII-2 earlier this year. Again, I really enjoyed it and plan to go back at some point and mop up all the extra stuff.
I got an SSS for the Final Fantasy II basic course this afternoon and didn't find it too bad. Maybe I've improved.
To get an SSS you need to get the Stoic Bonus. You do this by using the button in the party menu to unequip all your party's stuff. Then you need to get all criticals in the track. You'll get 7,999,999, and then the Stoic Bonus will add 2,000,000, giving you a total of 9,999,999. You can only get the SS and SSS by using the Stoic Bonus.
If you want to systematically get SSS scores in everything, the most efficient way is to SSS the courses, as you then get a SSS for the course as well as the individual tracks. You can restart each track without consequence, so you just need to eventually SSS the three tracks within one sitting.

Don't forget to go back with abilities/items equipped to get the criticals from the Feature Drive section so you can get the little crown on your Total Critical chart.

I'm just leaving Lindblum in FFIX. Even though it's a bit blocky these days, I still think the art style is wonderful, while the soundtrack is sublime. Just about to go back for more. Lovely.
I'm still in Midgar in VII. Â But I've already cross-dressed, been in an S&M dungeon, shunted some trains, bought some materia and whooped the ass of some low-level rodents. Â So all good.
The Japanese version of Final Fantasy III for the PSP is going to include English text, so it's looking like that's coming out over here, even if just as a digital download.

ERE, I have my character on the Phoenix server. I'm not currently subbed but I can reactivate if you get into it.
Word of warning though. There's very few low level players and not a lot of instant gratification.
I find it easier to play with a controller too, which you need to config in a separate but included program. If you think the graphics are pants there are unofficial ways to jack up the res.
